I've searched and searched, and i've tried and i've tried, but i can't find an accurate tutorial of how to get it working nor can i find a working driver. I've installed them all but i don't understand how to setup the COM port values and Ranges.
Can anybody help?
Regards, Mad!

Have you looked here?
http://www.modly.org/CF-27/
There is a really large store of drivers there, and the procedure for installing is in the FAQ. Good luck.
|27m3b10d.exe|/cf27/fc|BIOS||Windows 98|BIOS upgrade for the touchscreen Windows 98/NT/95|332KB|12/14/2000
This may be the puppy.
Just looked, it's there, third from the top in the "fc" group. -
Also where is this FAQ page because i've never found it yet (i know i'm an idiot)

DVD drive came today woop, installed XP makes life alot simpler, thanks!

The FAQ for the 28 should have alot that applies to the 27, just so you know. (Driver installation especially).
-
It's running fine.
But the touchscreen plagues me!
It's a mk1, does it have a touchscreen?
I've used this driver:
http://www.fujitsu.com/emea/services/components/touchpanels/drivers-warning-0523.html
I've installed it with the installer & used the installation method described in the CF-28 FAQ using the WINXP FIDMOU.inf file.
And i still get nothing. Can somebody help?
I've been informed by you guys that there is a bios/ec update:
http://panasonic.ca/english/customercare/sandd/softwareResults.asp
(or modly's page)
However it specifies a mk2
I don't really want to be instaling incompatible bios information as that only normaly ends in disaster any thoughts? -
There are 2 models that don't have a touchscreen - 27RJ and 27RG. The mark 2 update won't work on the mark 1 so don't do it.
Try this: http://www.fujitsu.com/emea/services/components/touchpanels/drivers.html
and go to the bottom under PS/2 interface and choose the 4-wire one - the one with "-" in the notes. -
Now how do you work out which model you have?
(I bet i have the one without the touchscreen)
And i'll give those a go!
EDIT:tried that driver to no avail! -

Mad, This may be wrong, perhaps Zerofilght will comment.
7|CF-27RA/RJ/RG..AAM/BAM|CF-27R******|27m1n4y1.exe|/cf27/r/|Driver|Touch screen|Windows NT 4|Touch screen/pad drivers for Windows NT 4|456 KB|1/14/2000
27m1w5y1.exe|/cf27/r/|Driver|Touch screen|Windows 95|
I'm really not sure about the odd way Panasonic labels their drivers or their Marks. Looking at all the drivers, it seems that 27m1n*********** are drivers for the Mark1. If the RJ/RG didn't have touchscreens why is there a driver for one? Both drivers are on Modly's site. -
I'LL GIVE IT A GO -
They didn't tell us but I think they use a generic pointer driver that covers both touchpad and touchscreen for each particular mark rather than writing 2 (one for touchpad alone and one for both). That way an image for any R will work on any R, touchscreen or not.

Mad, Before you drive yourself completely "mad", you might consider one of Gravitar's cheap Cf-27's on the BST forum if you really want a touchscreen. You've got everything you need to make one of his bare bones machines complete, and it sounds like you're losing money even at $1 per hour.

Man.. I'm gonna have to start handing out commission checks soon

I've resigned myself to not having a touchscreen, so i installed XP and an old laptop hardrive (40gb 7200rpm) i actually just found lying around. Everything was working fine. Installed a wireless card, working fine. Now seemingly RANDOMLY it bluescreens and shuts down!!!!! Argh!!!!! Whats worse is i can't work out what the bluescreen is so i have no idea what the problem is ARGH!
I'll take a pic later for somebody!
And i'm guessing because i live in the UK it would cost more than the laptop to ship it from Gravitar! -
Right i've found that the harddrive was causing the bluescreens so i wopped back in the 4.06gb it came with. What hardrives should work?
Secondly Any particular reason it locks up every now and then? -
Mad, The last time this question came up we sort of decided that IDE/ATA drives up to 60gb would present no problems. I think Grav. confirmed that he had 60gb drives working in his CF-27's. I have never gone higher than 20gb, no need.
