I'm sure this may have been discussed, but I'm just now wanting to integrate this into my CF-29/PDRC computer that is in my truck.

I found this: Overland Navigator Software | Spatial Minds, LLC

    What about this?: http://www.copilotlive.com/us/personal/laptop.asp

How about Garmin Mobile PC? I checked this one out on Youtube... Looks pretty cool, but is discontinued according to their website! :( https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?pID=13484&ra=true

My co-worker Jack uses iGuidance 4.0 on his CF-18, but that's HORRIBLY old and outdated...

    iGuidance 2011 is $90! GAH!

    Thoughts? Opinions? Options???

    Thanks

    EDIT: North American maps! :)

I am using a version of iGuidance from a few years ago.
It is very user friendly and the voice sounds normal as opposed the the "computer " voice that is from Microsoft or DeLorme.
Also Microsoft or DeLorme have so many options that they are way to time consuming to use. iGuidance is simple to use, you just turn it on, type the address and go.
When I upgrade it will be the newest version of iGuidance.
In my opinion it is worth every penny spent.

P.S, I already use S&T 2011, and it works great, just wanting something more touch friendly!

Unfortunately for Europe there is not so much out there and most is not that touch screen friendy.

I have Memory Map OS edition and also European Edition. Have also tried Fugawi and also Ozi Explorer.

All of them (apart from Memory Map OS edition) allow you to bring in scanned maps and calibrate them however none of them are particularly touch screen freindy with lots of small icons unlike Overland Navigator - I wish we could get that for the UK.

I have researched this for almost a year, just after I got my CF-29’s. Every report, opinion or review says that “iGuidance” is #1 with “MS streets & trips #2.
A friend has iGuidance and it is touch friendly (Note: once you you have “touch”. It’s like a microwave, “how did I live without it” ;)

iGuidance is definitely the most touchscreen friendly... However, depending on your ultimate use, may not be the most important thing.

I love iGuidance... But to navigate locally and when on trips. The Captand I had this discussion before and he pointed out the good trip planning features of M$ S&T... I don't use that feature though... I only want to know how to get from point A to point B. So there are trade-offs. IG has fair POIs... You'll know where the bathrooms and major restaurants are... But....

What Rick said in regards to iGuidance and Streets and Trips. Be careful Rob, Overland Navigator does NOT include any maps. I'm not interested enough to look into it, but find what their "map-pack" costs before you jump. You have to always consider the maps as well as the front end. Google a couple of the GPS forums (they are as crazy as we are!) for more info.

Yes, don't they just love to hit you with those extra maps costs; only today I read of someone being quoted £148 for European maps for their car sat-nav.

Cripes, that is outlandish, but as these are premium cars with captive users, I'm not surprised.

£125 for a map update disk for a Toyota CD navigation system - none of them are cheap.

Oh yes they are, they are OSM (open street maps), so they are free to use
In the set-up utility you can choose the maps you want to install

I couldn't find the US in the list for free... ONLY in the other tab which shows you have to "upgrade to a paid version"...

I tested it on my version (Navigator 10 free) and i can install the maps without any restriction, see picture

You have to scroll down the map list America until you can mark USA OSM

Btw, if the new (Navigator 11) is restricted, i have the older version on my server, i can upload it to yours if you want (send me a pm)

am i the only one who has issues with shutting down Nav11? It freezes on the splash screen and i have force the process to close. And before you say anything, yes, i did press exit. Thats what prompted the splash screen.

OKAY! SO! I LOVE THIS PROGRAM! OMG! It's simply stunning!

One issue though: If I try typing in an EXACT address it doesn't seem to like it much. Instead I just tapped the "search internet" button and it seems to use Google maps and finds the address EVERY TIME.

This is fine since I have an aircard, but I feel bad for the people who don't only because of the fact that it seems to only want to navigate to crossroads... How am I supposed to know the crossroads if I'm not from that area?!?!?!? (defeating the entire purpose...)

Thanks denrosten! REP POINT TO YOU!

Mocking you huh? While you are in that frame of mind I would check the washing machine has not eaten one of your socks leaving you an odd one just to annoy you, also checkout the steel coat hangers, every time I go to the wardrobe they have multiplied! :D

Seriously though, I will keep an eye on this thread as it is exactly what I will be looking for when my toy arrives (presently in spanish customs in Madrid) :) I will be using my CF-19 TB for overlanding mainly Europe/Africa ect, I would love to 'do' the USA, those guys have some serious places expedition trips/trails.
