How many of you use the touchscreen while driving? I have been designing my Toughbook pretty specifically for running in my Jeep for navigation and such things.

One of the problems I ran into was software related, in that I want to quickly run applications, and use the touchscreen to interact with them. However I really like having a higher resolution picture for things like Topo maps etc.

So the problem became that to actually launch the applications, and interact with them while driving was very distracting, and difficult since I hate really large application Title Bars -- and to make the close and minimize buttons large enough to use with my fingers meant they were really huge.

I did some looking around on the internet for freeware applications that let you launch other applications, and there were some, but none were simple yet configurable.

So I decided to roll my own.

Currently it is basically launches other applications by button click. If the application is already running, it checks to see if the application has focus. If the application has focus, it minimizes it. If the application does not have focus but is running, it brings the application forward. The application runs only on WinXP (that I have tested), and requires .NET 2.0. It should run on Win2K, but I really have not tested it on Win2K yet.

Lots of things like colors and fonts are configurable, and you can also pass cmd arguments to the applications you are launching -- like say you want to launch mplayer full screen.

Anyway, let me know if anyone wants more info, and if so, maybe I can post some more info on the application. Currently I call it Launcher (not real flashy, but pretty accurately descriptive)
