I have problems with the install of touchscreen for Vista on my cf-30, every time I try, it starts to install but don't finish completely. I have tried to remove the touchpad drivers before but to no avail. I have NOT installed the bios for Vista yet. (could that be the problem)? By the way is it worth to install that ?
The touchscreen works but the point is 2 cm out of focus and the calibration program just starts with the red X, I click on that and after that nothing happens and the pen is still out of focus.

I will try to answer your questions
There is lots of us on the forum with cf-30s , but most are running xp

Was the touchscreen good in xp?

I don't know for sure why both the cf-30 mk-1and cf-19 mk-1 require separate bios update’s specifically for the operating system version.

I have run my cf-19 mk-1 with vista with the xp bios and have not had any issues.
I am running it now with the vista bios and I run it with both os fine.

But to be sure update the bios

My vista load in my cf-19 took some time to get running properly as I didn’t have the restore disk, just a licensed oem vista business disk so I had to load a lot of drivers from the panasonic site.
Make sure you get the correct drivers for your model number from the site, as there are a lot of drivers, and both mk-1 versions and mk-2s.

I have vista on my cf-30 mk-2 with no touchscreen problems
But my cf-30 is a mk-2 version with correct vista restore disks that came with the laptop.
That means no driver updates were necessary

Sometimes uninstalling drivers and reinstalling works

Did you do a fresh load of vista , or did you just upgrade xp?

Hi Alex and thanks for the answer.
I bought the cf-30 used and it came with a french xp system from mad dog. I tried to install xp proff but there was a lot of problems recognising the sata harddrive as I needed drivers and a floppy for that. I ended up with a fresh install of Vista which recognised the sata and downloaded all the drivers from Pana. It was installed on a formatted hd.

The sounddriver in Vista worked better than that one from pana so I keept that.
The only thing with problems is now the touchscreen. I think it is working because I can move the cursor with the pen (1-2cm off focus) but the program downloaded from pana always ends up before finalizing with an error and the calibration program will not calibrate.

I have found a similar driver from another place but with the same result.
I have tried to uninstall tre driver but it miss the uninstall part as it has never been installed correctly.

I did a mistake by installing touchpad driver before touchscreen but even I uninstall the touchpad driver the touchscreen program always stop before properly installed.

I think my next step will be to find and remove any trace of the two touch programs or even return to the restorepoint before installing all the drivers.

I am sure everything was much easier with a restoredisk so may be I should look for a xp restore disk as in fact I prefer the xp OS.

    paul

The restore dvd is what you need

I only have the restore dvd for the mk-2

It will only work on mk-2 cf-30's ( this is for software piracy protection )

If you have a few more posts you will be able to use the PM system on the forum

Then PM me and I will find you a restore disk for xp

    Hi again Alex
Whatever I do the touch driver/program will not install correctly. I think I will look for xp instead. I don't need the touchscreen but it is anoying when something just won't work. I am waiting for a us keyboard so I will leave Vista until I have changed from the french. - Thanks
