Got a bunch of new Toughbook H2 Field units for an application that simply needs a web browser. We were planning to use Windows 7 but I am considering using Ubuntu with Chromium for stability and ease of making a read-only filesystem that doesn't have chkdsk issues when powered off hard and rebooted.

Does anyone know what drivers I should look for under Ubuntu for this tablet's touchscreen?

Live booting 10.04.3 LTS results in the touchscreen not working.

    Thanks.

Just tried 11.10 and that doesn't recognize the touchscreen either.

Why not use XP Tablet. Drivers are available from Panasonic. You might be able to purchase an XP image from Panasonic if they are XP downgrade models. What is the full model#?

Well, they came with Win7 so we don't need another Windows OS. I'd like to try Linux on it so we can set the file system to read only since these will be used as essentially kiosk web browsers. The read only approach will keep the file system from corrupting during hard power offs.

Thus, the hope to find the linux touchscreen drivers...

    code:
    lspci
    dmesg grep | touchscreen
    dmesg grep | Fujitsu
Let's figure out what touch panel we are dealing with.

It's dual touch (the H2) so tweaking is anticipated.

Have you read/tried the Ubuntu 10.04 thread in this forum?

lspci doesn't show anything, but lsusb shows:

    Code:
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 056a:00ed Wacom Co., Ltd

dmesg | grep -i touch and dmesg grep | Fujitsu showed nothing.

Any ideas on installing something from Wacom?

xserver-xorg-input-wacom is installed yet neither dmesg | grep Wacom nor wacom show anything.

Send me one and I'll sort it out.

I think you need to be researching the multi touch posts in Linux.

You said lspci showed nothing? Or nothing of interest?

You are correct in trying the lsusb bit. My USB Wacom tablet plugs and plays.

I've been focused on my own issue....can't stand to not succeed.

I'll go back to my first statement "send me one and I'll sort it out". My experience with Linux has been with CF-29 and 30. I don't even know what your unit looks like. :D

Heck yeah I'm serious. The only reason I buy these things is to look at them and have 'em drive me nuts.
    Hang in there.
Again I was serious about only having experience with the toughbooks (fully rugged and semi).
    You'll get it.
    Take a look at lsmod.
