    Hi Forum,
I´m looking for a ToughMate but i don`t know if the one for the CF-28 fits on my CF-29. Any experiences? And what is with the one for the CF-30?

Try calling infocase as they are the ones that make the case. www.infocase.com I would think the 29 and 28 one should be the same, the CF-30 one is different but the overall fit maybe the same. TM29-P is the 29 case and TM30-P is the CF-30 case.

    Good luck.

yes, the 28 will work with the 29, but NOT with the 30 (the 30 is a thicker laptop)

They will all work to some degree but JB is right... The sling for the 30 will allow the 29 to slide out. There is, however, included velcro that, if used correctly, would keep everything in place.

I love the sling I have for my CF-30!

See, I had my 29 slide out of the 29 sling when I had it years ago. Back visiting my ex at college it slipped out while on campus at WIU (Western Illinois University) while it was raining out and landed on a wet/soggy/NASTY pizza that someone had thrown on the ground lol... The battery went flying one way and the hard drive managed to fly another way lol, that thing survived and I put the 2 things back in to it and hosed it off under the sink once I got back to the dorm room lol
Whats the moral of the story here kids?

Toughbooks can even survive wet/soggy pizzas at crazy college campus's!!!

Moral of the story is: KY does it better... and.. don't let things slip out accidentally while visiting your significant other in college. :p

I just ordered the case for the 30, I figured for $ 80.00 bucks it's worth a shot.

Ya I got a great deal on that i could not pass up. It only has 60 hours of use on it so it is practically brand new. I want to add the fingerprint reader to it eventually but have not decided if it is worth it yet.

I am super excited to have a cf-30 now. I do not want to let my cf-29 go as it has pretty much everything my cf-30 has. I need to list it on ebay though to fund the new cf-30 or my girl will kill me. :(

You said you have a cf-30 on the way what model did you get?

There was a cf-30 a few weeks back on ebay for $400 less than i paid and it was a mk2 I looked at it too long and by the time i hit BIN someone had already snagged it. Should not have waited. It was my model but with the core 2 duo.

    Live and learn i guess.

Well I hesitated for a few mins to look at the listing and decide if that was the one i wanted. Then i was like ok it is I hit BIN about 15-20 mins later and a user named tracy-clint had already swooped in and bought it. I was really pissed I didnt hit BIN right away but oh well. The Core Duo is good enough.

How much of a differance is it between the core duo and the core 2 duo?

I notice it mostly when it comes to encoding dvd's and videos and such... just to put it into perspective, it took me about 1 hour to encode a FULL quality HD movie and i tried it on a Core 2 1.86 and it did the SAME thing with same ram (and actually maybe a lil better graphics card too) in about 38 minutes... So combination with the new CPU + the better graphics and chipset (which come with the newer cpu typically anyways) = better performance... I can't say I'd complain at all one bit about the performance of my 1.6 Core Duo though... it rips it up man!!!

I saw that listing on the cheap mk-2

The buyer bought it and then listed his mk-1 for sale for about the same price he paid for the mk-2

Awsome Unit. So what does the lower pass thru mean on the 8 key? then it says sprint evdo or single pass thru on the 9 key

    That is just confusing me

Well I know that it will be faster than my 1.3ghz cpu now so I am happy.

I was reading and saw that a site said that the core 2 duo uses more battery than the core duo but only about 10%

So i guess with the 10% boost in performance you loose 10% in battery.

Is the CPU socketed? The Core 2 Duos are pin-for-pin compatible with the Core Duos. If not, well, get out that soldering iron! :D

They are not socketed, and cannot be upgraded as they are soldered on (unless you own a professional metals shop lol)

My misguided Son, it is written:

"A scoffer seeks wisdom and {finds} none, But knowledge is easy to one who has understanding."
"The one who guards his mouth preserves his life; The one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin."
"A prudent man conceals knowledge, But the heart of fools proclaims folly."
"He who despises his neighbor lacks sense, But a man of understanding keeps silent."
"He who conceals hatred {has} lying lips, And he who spreads slander is a fool."
"When there are many words, transgression is unavoidable, But he who restrains his lips is wise."

Hi Guys, thanks for your comments.
I will check out the toughmate for my CF-29.
But another question: is it possible to use other shoulder straps then the originals on the CF-28/29?
