I don't know what came over me but I went ahead and ordered the CF 74.
Why did I order a sight unseem, non-retunable, very pricy laptop? Why did I go from the ultraportable, 3.7 lb. SZ160 to an industrial grade, 5.9 lb. tank?
After spending many hours reading reviews (of the CF73)and speaking to people around the country who have experience with the CF series, I became very excited about this lappy and - I must confess - inticed by the fact it is so rare.
The clincher was the 460 nit, touch screen with an 8 hour battery life (I'll believe it when I see it!) and the very cool, very unique design of case. By nature I am not a showy person, but carrying this around will be a hoot!
Based on my research, my perception of this Panasoic computer is that it is one giant step up from the Thinkpad build quailty (I didn't think that was posible). As to the weight, I realized that with a case and cables and accessories my ultraportable ran close to 6 lbs. anyway.
I cannot wait to open the box (because I ordered Bluetooh there may be up to an 8 week delay.) Oh well - it can't be worse than Lenovo's shipping times.
For those who care, I will certainly share my impressions. I just pray I did not make a $3,800 mistake...

Congratulations! Glad to see you are so excited about your purchase. I hope it is everything you are wishing for and your joy is justified. It is a pretty rare notebook indeed and I'll look forward to a full review sometime after you receive it (wouldn't deny us that, would you?).
I may be spending more time in the Panny forum myself soon. My wife is back on about getting herself a W4. But the Japanese version with the color lid, of course. She is quite partial to unique things as well. I just hope my wallet can withstand her individuality, lol. -
Heh, welcome to the club. Buying a TB can never be a mistake... Now go ahead and feel special...
