    Hello,

this is my first post, please excuse my poor english.

I have a Toughbook CF52 MK2 and doing a replace of mainboard with a MK3. After modify the fan, replacing also sound pcb (built in speakers dont work with MK2 sound pcb) only two problems left:

1.) UMTS doenst work - this is a very small problem to me

2.) I have no clue how to connect the battery pcb, and this is a real big problem to me :(

The battery pcb of the MK2 is a brown flex cable with a length of ca. 5 cm. But the MK3 board doesnt have a suitable battery connector in the area i can reach with this cable. As it looks for now, there is no MK3 service manual in the whole internet. In my oppinion there are only 2 connectors that can be used for connecting the primary battery, i have circled the red on the following picture:
    cf52mk3_mainboard_1024x768.jpg

Can anyone confim that one of these connectors is for battery ? My toughbook would be much more useful if i can use my battery pack again :) In the picture shown in this this thread (LINK) the second connector is connected to a cable with three black and three white wires, but i think more wires are used to transmit data between battery pack and laptop, or am i wrong ? EDIT: (The three pins from the black wires are connected together on the pcb and the three pins from the white wires are als on my board.)

    thank you,
    greets marcel

    Hey,

wow these pictures looks very interesting. As it seems the needed cable is Y-style and connects from battery pack to both of the connectors, i have circled red in the picture above. Is this an original part or an diy-part ? I ask, because when i try to google the partno. "DFMD7B27" from the pictures, i find only the battery connector cable that fit to my old MK2 board:
    $(KGrHqV,!lMF!hLQy12TBQdoboPnFw~~60_35.JPG

Is it possible to get a pinout from this cable ? Or does somebody sell such a cable ? Its so anoying to have no usable battery pack in your lap...

thank you very much for the pics,

    greets marcel :)

You need a completely different board. First, I believe the DFMD7B27 number is the part number for the bracket. For the board and flex cable I find a part number of DFUP1768ZA. You also need a black cable with the white and black wires with white connectors to go from that board to the white connector on the motherboard. In your first picture, I'm talking about the white connector you have circled at the bottom of the picture. The picture above is the INCORRECT one. In the post from onirakkiss, the first two pictures shows the correct board you need. I haven't found a part number for the cable.

When I did the same thing you are trying, I found mine on ebay. I just did a search there and didn't come up with anything. Keep looking and eventually, one will show up.

No such cable on ebay.com until now :( Is it possible to get a wiring diagram from somebody if the laptop is disassembled the next time? It would be a big help to me.
    Thank you,

    greets marcel
