I got a toughbook CF-27 mark 1 (pentium 1 266Mhz) non-touch screen machine. Installed Windows XP sp1, but the touchpad doesnt work. I then used some test programs like PCCheck and the touchpad doesnt work either.

Should i change the options in the BIOS or something else ?

There is also a switch near the memory expansion. Its a small metal switch that can be in left or right direction.

the serial number of my CF-27 is CF-27RJZ8AZZ

I did not install any drivers yet. Windows XP sees the videocard and soundcard.

The only drivers i could download for the CF-27 mk1 are for Windows 95/98 and Windows NT.
I could try to install the touchpad / touchscreen drivers for the mk2...

If you have the ability download and burn to disk a copy of Knoppix Linux. Boot the disk and If the touch pad is working properly you will be able to use it without having to do anything else.

I also installed Windows 98SE and installed the MK1 drivers...

    Also... no touchpad working...

I think that this time, its a hardware problem. Windows XP/98SE and also several MS-DOS based system info programs did not detect the mousepad. I tried several IO settings in the BIOS (setting port B and C to NOT in use). etc.etc.

Its not really a big problem at this moment, because this CF-27 I bought was sold for spares. It didnt boot at first, but today I replaced the CMOS battery (2032) with a fresh one and since then, it boots nicely from harddrive.. The screen is also bad. But this machine only costed me 30 euros. I got a good working 3 hour battery , working harddrive caddy + connector, good keyboard and a booting machine for it... Only thing bad is : touchpad and screen.

So, not a bad deal after all.

I replaced the bad screen with another one from a difrent brand. It works good, but all colours are inverted.. Does anybody know a switch or setting on the motherboard to reverse/invert the colors so they look good ?

Or any software trick in Windows 98SE ? When i use the magnifier program, the magnified portion can be inverted. I want a program/trick that does the same but for the whole screen and all my games.... Now they look a bit.... strange with all the colors inverted... (like looking at a negative photo)

Yesterday i was playing with some of my CF-M34s and i noticed that the touchpad and buttons are about the same size as the ones of the CF-27. Are these exchange-able ? And the ribbon-flatcable that connect the touchpad electronics to the mainboard of the CF-M34, can I use that on the CF-27 ?
