The red LED indicator on a CF-29 MK3 laptop is indicating a battery problem. At power up it is orange then after a minute switches to blinking red. Windows XP battery meter is showing a red x through the battery and indicating only 4% after battery was just swapped from another laptop that had it at 99% charge.

The power supply and battery are known good (swapped with other units).

Problem is identical to other thread, but I did not read the final solution.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, hate to through away after I just replaced the touch screen.

    Thanks,

    Alex

Have you ever had a battery work in this unit?

    Is it a Panasonic battery?

    Shawn,
The system did work for over 3 years for me. I have tried both OEM and aftermarket batteries. Same results.

Does it run on the AC adapter?
Did anything happen to it recently?

You are probably going to have to take the bottom off and look inside..
Check the ribbon cable that goes from the battery connector. Sometimes they come loose.
    Fuses could have blown.

You may need to replace the motherboard...A member of the board here has a few CF29 for parts..
CF29's are reasonably cheap now. How much time do you want to invest?

Replaced the board and it's charging fine now. it seemed like the port where the battery plugs into was all fouled up with some corrosion.

This could be the problem you are having too. It's a easy fix.
