I have never noticed the power led dimming. It seems to stay at a consistent brightness.

Nope, but the LEDs dim with the screen brightness. That was, what I used in my (and some others) CF-52 ;) . I think it is the correct option. I can switch it off with the SCRLK-key (cause I use the SCRLK-LED, not the Power-led) and the brightness of the kbd is equivalent to the brightness of the screen.

On the other hand: I could probably use a small Arduino as PWM-generator and write a program to implement a fully functional kbd-backlight with knock-control, auto dim, energy save mode (keys are brighter when pressed).... maybe if I do this mod again.... :D

I dissected a bard today and it looks like if you only wanted to change one color (to Red or Green or Mauve) simply switch out the White plastic sheet for a colored gel similar to a Theatre light gel.

Please post a photo or two of the innards.

No, Not Shakespeare's innards, the keyboards innards . I would like to compare them to the CCF 19's keyboard .

    *sniff sniff*
methinks something is rotten in the state of denmark .
    :err: :biglaugh: :twitchy:

the gel idea is good ...
one would have to allow for the color density of the filter when setting up the number and output (brightness) of the additional leds .
this means going from (say) 10 lumens/led to 15 lumens/led (or mCd , etc) .
