I have a toughbook CF-30
It will not power on with the battery, but when the AC is attached it will power on. The AC can then be removed and the toughbook will run all day on the battery that is fully charged from the beginning.
Anyone else see this problem?
Thanks

Hi, out of curiosity I just looked in W7 advanced power settings - it seems that it might be possible to achieve what you describe.
edit: apart from the bit about running all day... doh.
"Critical battery action" offers the option of sleeping, hibernating or shutting down when battery reaches critical level.
"Critical battery level" apparently can be set as high as 100% (mine is set at 5%, probably the default setting.)
Not saying it's likely, just that it appears to be possible.
Maybe try returning power settings to defaults?
Someone will be along soon with a sensible answer though -
A power pull re-set is indicated.
To eliminate scrambled mother-board:
Pull all power.
Hold switch on for a few 15-30 second cycles.
Plug in power supply. (no battery yet)
Set bios to defaults and save [F2][F9][F10]
Re-start and install battery.
Report back with your full model number.
FOR THE CURIOUS:
SETTING TO DEFAULTS AND THE FULL MODEL NUMBER PUT US ALL ON THE SAME PAGE, ELIMINATING A BUNCH OF IS THIS THIS WAY AND IS THAT THAT POSTS. :hi2: -
The power pull reset does work.
I was recently working on my Ublox gps on my cf30. I pulled the battery and disconnected the ac..However I forgot about the 2nd battery. When I put the unit back together without gps, it was totally dead....uh oh.........
I pulled all drives and all power sources. Hit the power switch a couple of times and presto-chango my cf30 came back to life. -
I cannot imagine a better piece of electronics ever being invented than the Toughbook. In my early days I gave the Toughbook every reason to start spouting magic smoke. The only thing I ever did to it was to blow a fuse for the display... An easy fix. All of this happened because I started working on the Toughbook and left the battery installed.
So... What they say is true... remove all batteries, discharge caps by trying to turn it on. Then reboot after reinstalling the batteries. You may even try going into the BIOS and resetting the BIOS to default settings.
Try all of this and definitely post your (full) model number... -
Maybe I need to rub my Toughbook just right and a Magic Genie will appear.....

It works! it works!
I rubbed my cf52 lid and Genie appeared.
