I have recently purchased a used CF-31 Mk2. It was listed as having OEM GPS and GOBI 2000.

I can't see any reference to either of them in BIOS or System Manager.

The model no CF-31Q5AAX1M does not show either of them in the Panasonic configurator.

Would welcome some advice on how to tell whether they are installed.

GPS and GOBI is pretty easy to find.

    Get into BIOS
Got to the page with the ports listed
Click on the serial ports sub page
It should list 2 serial ports and GPS.
GOBI should be under the wireless sub page
It will show up as WWAN

If you know what to look for, you should be able to see them through the memory door access hole also.

I don't have CF-31, but in CF-19's BIOS you can't check whether WWAN is present or not. WWAN string is always there and even can be switched on/off without modem present.
Device manager will show the truth if WWAN is here and enabled.
Or extract the sled and look whether it has the modem :)

Very common for Ebay sellers to remove those items. They then sell them separately.

The configurator shows that yours did not have those items originally.
What is the link for the sellers ad?

yeah ... i wanna see that link too .
/me makes sure mr. louis is in the corner
time to get all or a fair chunk of your money back .

a lot of sellers do not really have a clue as to what is what ... they are *honest mistakes* .
then there are those that purposefully prevaricate in an attempt to defraud the customer .

oh yeah ... welcome to the forums .
