That does not appear to be a SSD.

Time to start making some phone calls!

Run the performance index. If your drive doesn't score above 7 it's likely not an SSD.
Other things:
Try tweaking the bios for "quick" boot. All you lose is the ability to boot from USB, and you can undo the setting and get that back if you need it. I would also stay away from the ATI graphics and Aero. Two things of questionable utility that slow you down, heat you up, and eat your battery. -
is that Quick Boot option only on the 31 Series?

The Quick Boot option is not on the MK1, not sure about the MK2 or 3
-
it's not on my CF30 MK2 or 3. That's why I was curious, it must be a 31 feature?
-
I called buytough.com for a quote and am waiting for the email to come in with the quote to see how long I have to forgo food so I can afford a brand-spankin new 31. -

Pulling the disk drive carrier, it is not possible to find a part number. I will need to disassemble the carrier to get to the actual drive itself.
Previously, I used the device manager to get the identification of the drive. I'm unclear how the device manager actually identifies the actual hardware other than via the driver.
Let me not guess on an answer and pull the drive. I will let the group know. -
I take it then it was not a misunderstanding on the difference between SSD and hard drive and that your special order had a ssd as an option
The drive properties clearly show a regular hard drive, you should double check your order sheet to confirm that you ordered an ssd, I would think that it was a $700 option for one that size directly from panasonic
I was asking for the model number as I know that if you buy one at a later date it is less costly that buying from panasonic and a later upgrade is easy with the restore dvd -
wow over 7k for a laptop?
-
with a bit of blue LID. It will be 8K.
ohlip -
-
And don't forget the 5400 rpm spec. Everyone knows SSDs spin a LOT faster than that.
-
Alright Toughies - this falls into the category of very high frustration. In between my travel overseas, I pulled apart the disk drive carrier. The Beast is equipped with a 250GB hard drive.
My vendor who is not the quickest study had failed to read my original order request and did not order the config with the SSD.
It has taken nearly 3 weeks to get a quote for the part number and the cost. Are you sitting down???
Part number CFK31SD2511 is $1063.09 plus $35 in shipping.
I could scream! -
If the present 250gb is SATA, I think you can do better with SSD recommendations from the folks here, clone it over and move on for a whole lot less! -
Almost did not want to post this since I am a reseller...I did not want to seem too much like a cheesy salesman ripping the competition...but go back to your guy. The MSRP on that part # (in the US at least) is $1,021...and that is with NO discount at all. One would think you would get a little break if they messed up and did not pay attention to what you ordered...not charge you OVER retail.

I'm enjoying the capabilities of the CF-31 but the journey to get it has not been pleasant. I'm hard pressed to keep driving myself nuts.
Thanks for the suggestions on pricing as well as alternative recommendations.
