I am upgrading to CF 31 from CF 30. Took my relative new 300 gig CF 30 hard drive and placed it in the CF-31. To my surprise it booted up and worked!! It has Win 7 Ultimate on it. A few things don't work like the Wi-Fi and network cable port. I have drivers I believe for those. My question---I thought that windows 7 was tied to a particular hardware. Shouldn't I get a Microsoft warning that the hardware has changed and to either reinstall the operating system or call a Microsoft number? I don't want this warning to come up several days or weeks from now far from my office. Should I be on the safe side and just reinstall another copy of Win 7 Ultimate?

It works between intel to intel or amd to amd machine but won't between amd to intel machine. It will now search on boot up for valid cert in the bios for the version of windows 7. So over time it will ask again to be activated.

Thanks. good to know. For these Toughbooks I had bought a 5 pack of Win 7 with the same key for OS installation.. The CF-30 has the same key as the remaining non used Win 7 keys. With the key being the same, would I still need to reinstall Win 7 Ultimate on the CF-31?? Does the key show up in the bios as part of the valid cert.
