Hey all, first off let me say thanks for a wonderful resource and you have gained a new member to the community. I have been poking around for a couple days and I can't get how I missed this place since the purchase of my CF-74 GCEFKBM with all the extra goodies....maybe one of you can kindly help. I MISS MY TOUCHSCREEN....lol.

Unfortunately, there is an issue. When purchased wtih XP, touchscreen worked fine. Driver installed fine, and calibration was successful. Worked great.

Upgraded to Vista Business x 64 and with drivers supplied from Panasonic's website and got an error when trying to find the FTPSetup.exe or when it did show up, I got an error something like "the installation did not compete".

If I ran the calibration tool in the driver folder, I could try to tap the screen where the +'s were, but was unsuccessful as it was off quite a bit.

Now I have upgraded to Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and still the same errors. I have contacted Panasonic when this happened with Vista, and they were no help. So now I have a touchscreen this is not calibrated and is basicly useless. Please help. Now at the moment touching the very far edge of the left bezel, the mouse is registering maybe an inch off the edge of the screen (if that makes sense).

Does anyone know of anyone that has a fully functional touchscreen on a CF-74 using the mentioned operating systems? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to the forums!

You may want to poke around here and look at the last few pages of posts.... There have been a few people that have loaded W7 and got everything working on the laptops. I don't think it was a CF-74... But the gist was the same.

Check into it. I'm sure someone will eventually come in and post exactly what you need.... But this will get you started.

Did you try the original XP drivers on Vista or Windows 7?

Thanks for the reply, but just tried the XP driver for the touchscreen, and it said "the functionality of this software is not supported on your system.

Also I tried to download the different models for the 74 (mk3,mk4) and either it says "the machine does not support" or fails like i stated first. I'm still looking for more options. If anyone finds anything, please post.

Maybe its the fact that it's a 64 bit setup? Has anyone had a 64 bit working touchscreen cf-74? Hummm....i wonder.

Yeah, that's what the deal is. But I have been reading for pages now and no luck. I've tried anything I've seen in the pages I've read, I'm on page 22 i think so far. I have tried so many different things and came up with nothing.

I have a CF-74 GCEFKBM, and on Panasonic's support page, would i have the MK3 or MK4? I've tried both I believe, but am stuck. Almost tempted to downgrade to XP to get full functionality again. But have been really enjoying Windows 7. I have been dealing with a non calibrated touch screen for months now, and just got to get this figured out. Thanks again for everyone's input. Keep it coming if you can. Thanks

Have tried that many times with no success. Got the mk3 touchscreen file, and the mk4 (both). Either, "machine does not support" or "the functionality of this software is not supported by this machine"....Seems discouraging, but I am persistent. If I find anything I will post the remedy.

Yes, thats the one i have....i have all XP and Vista drivers saved. I tried extracting with WinRar and still no luck. When I click on the setup, I see the first prompt, then when i click OK, another box pops up and says "Installation Isn't Complete" then it closes after I'm forced to click Ok.

    OK
You might have luck with it if you install a 32bit W7 version

I was also going to suggest this or try a fresh clean install of W7 and follow the driver order of installation that we have posted for the cf18.

Thanks guys. I think I'll live with it for now. But soon I will try a fresh install of W7 32 bit, but is that possible? To go from a 64 bit OS to a 32 bit? Not sure about that. But not sure if I want to be forced to do that. I like the idea of 64 bit systems. But maybe Panasonic will release some W7 drivers after the official release soon. But I haven't seen any updates recently with Panasonics drivers. But one can hope for the best.

I will be checking back often, and you have gained dedicated member to the Toughbook community. I love it, and love how not too many people have them and they always ask "what kind of laptop is that?" They envy the touchscreen and durability of it.

If anyone chimes in and can offer another solution, that would be great. Again, thanks guys.
