    Hello,

Does anybody know where the memory is in the Toughbook CF-W5? I've looked under the HDD, tried to remove the keyboard without success (I cant find a service manual) and looked over the whole thing and have no idea where it is.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Edit: was able to remove the keyboard (that sucker was GLUED down) but STILL no RAM slots. Where are these things!?

    Its on the bottom
A single screw hold's the cover down
Located between the battery and the front of the laptop
Remember that your model takes DDR2, 172 pins, Micro DIMM, PC2-4200

Thanks! Believe it or not, I opened that up and didn't think that was it. I was expecting to see a normal DDR2 SODIMM slot. Guess I'm off to find some Micro Dimm DDR2

I found memory for my W5 at www.oempcworld.com Picked up 1gig for $39.85. I'm now having trouble installing it into the laptop. It doesn't sit flush with the motherboard in the slot- any thoughts? I've oriented it the way it's suppose to go it and it is kinda in- but not all the way. The system doesn't bootup.

    Thanks,
    Nate

Are you sure you've found right memory? I remember recently looking through their store (found through ebay) for memory for my T5 and they didn't have memory exactly for the 5 series.

It must be not only, as is written above in this thread, 172 pin Micro DIMM DDR2 PC-4200, but also compatible with Panasonic. Some memory modules like that work only with Fujitsu, for example.

I feel pretty confident its the right memory. Any idea where I can find a service manual for the W5? I might note, I have an imported W5 and not the US sold W5.
