I'm pretty sure the CD-ROM drive is on a USB interface...so if a USB HDD interface is OK then it might be doable with a tiny HDD.

OK, but do you know if there is a rack or something like this for the CD-ROM, or it's a different system ?

    Regards

I have replaced a defective DVD/CD drive in a Y7 with one I retrieved from an otherwise crushed Y7. I'd put money on that it cannot be readily replaced with a 2nd hard drive.

I believe the drive in there is a USB drive from what I recall, but it does not have a standard USB cable attaching it. There is a special flex off the motherboard. I'd bet that there is also not enough power coming out to run a hard drive.

Still, if you'd really like to try, I'd suggest getting on of those new 7mm drives. I think the plastic holding the CD drive might flex enough to let that thin drive squeeze in. The real challenge would be getting a USB to SATA interface in there, working out the cabling - and a having enough power to run the drive and it.

    Good luck,
    Dave
