    Hello all,

After 2 years of good work, my CF31 (CF31ACBNNPM) can not boot anymore.

At start, 1 led lits, then after around 10 seconds fan is starting at max speed and black screen.

After consulting previous post, I tried with battery only, sector only, then without battery, HDD & RAM.

Toughbook reaction is the same in every case. I'm starting to fear a sudden death motherboard.

    Any idea?

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook forum

Have you tried it with a external monitor. I don't have 31 but Shawn will be on later and he has worked on 31's

    Which led?
Bad memory is possible. Try 1 stick at a time.
Does the blue Panasonic screen appear?

    Hello gents,

I tried to boot with each RAM stick alone (and no HDD & battery).
    No boot.

I have" power statut" and "power statut of multimedia pocket" LED, constantly green.

Boot don't go until blue panasonic screen.

So you DO NOT see Panasonic screen?

Sounds like a memory issue to me.
Remove ALL drives. Including DVD, PCMCIA and expresscard devices.
    Disconnect all usb devices.
Then try one stick of ram at a time.
    Try external monitor.

Are you sure power supply is good?

    Hello again Shawn,

All drives are removed (PCMIA, USB, Expresscard).
I've tried one stick of ram at a time.
Power supply OK (office, panasonic's charger).

    NO PANASONIC screen visible.

TO NOTICE : Since this bug occured, the starts approx. 20 seconds after I power on the toughbook and works a max speed.

I am going to find an external monitor.

Great video..It really helps to see what is going on.

Does anyone know if concealed mode affects an external monitor?

Have you tried a known good RAM not that two. If the result still the same. Try pulling out the WWAN card and then power it up. If no good result, take out the bluetooth module and power it up. If still the same. This time the wi-fi card and then report back.

PS. I've noticed that you also have a GPS installed. Unplug it first before you proceed into what I am asking you to do.

No flashing green lights on boot as far as I could tell from the video. I have seen this with bad ram. It's either both ram sticks or between power input and wherever it leads. I would check cabling including battery connection (under or near touchpad) Then look for a bad fuse.....BUT only after a known good ram stick as Ohlip said.

Sorry I wrote this sorta backwards.

Guess you tried every basic thing. Then try to disconnect the cmos battery (battery & AC should be disconnected too), while trying to power it up (discharging). Connect the cmos batt after a minute with AC & batt too and try
