OK so I was having a problem with My mouse jumping all over the screen from the GPS and the serial ballpoint driver. the Panasonic Registry patch was not working for some reason so I had to let the mouse jump all over the screen and try to disable the serial ballpoint driver with the stylus. If you disable the GPS in the bios then the ballpoint driver will not show up so you can disable it. so it has to be done with the Mouse going crazy. I have found a better way around this and figured i would share.

First boot into the bios and disable the GPS. Save the changes and boot into windows.

    Next follow these Steps:

    Right click My Computer
    Select Properties
    Select Advanced Tab
Select Settings in Startup and Recovery
    Select Edit
Add /NoSerialMouse (this is case sensitive) to the line that looks like:
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\XP="Windows XP" /fastdetect
    so that it now reads:
    multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\XP="Windows XP" /fastdetect/NoSerialMouse
    File - Save
    Exit
    Reboot
Boot into bios and re-enable the GPS and save and exit.

Now the serial mouse driver will not load and you will not have any red x in the device manager. Hope this works for other's too.

UPDATE: Here is the link from 9nine9's post that is a Microsoft program that will also help with the serial ball point mouse.

Hmmmm... I am putting together CF-28/600MHz with the GPS and Sarantel combo... I get the jumping mouse sporadically.... Maybe 30% of the time. And there is no serial ballpoint driver in Devce Manager?

    Any ideas?

(Yes... I cleaned all around the screen...)

The problem may not appear 100% of the time
In device manager Scan for hardware changes with the mouse properties open
    Try this a few times
I have had Microsoft serial mouse show up as well

I've always had good luck changing the GPS to COM port 7 (or the first available COM port will do).

Here is what I found out today, I had applied a screen protector and had a hellof a time getting the bubbles out. I did a lot of pressing with a credit card.

The mouse was sometimes moving around and others just "vibrating" in place.

I was pretty certain it wasn't a software issue cause I haven't been in mucking with it recently. I found that you can get an idea if your problem is mechanical or software by GENTLY grabbing the screen in one of the lower corners and one of the opposite corners and gently racking the screen, I mean gently. I got the cursor to move around and if you held you mouth just right, stood on one foot and squinted it would stop.

ah ha. Took the cover off the screen and carefully separated the two screens. I pushed the outer screen in the opposite direction I pushed with the credit card. IN this position you can see if there is any crud between the screen and the bezel and clean that also. Put it back together and shazam it works like a charm.

    Moxie,
Next time try water with just a touch of liquid dish soap to apply the screen protector. The bubbles come right out with no heavy pressure required.

After reading this post last week I decided to try to get my mouse/touchscrene working finally. I have a cf28pbjaaqm i am using the fujitsu 2.0.3.3 driver for windows xp for the touchscrene. I am pretty sure (although not positive) that this is the correct driver. I tryied using the com disable tool; and I also tryied re-assigigning com ports irq's ect to no avail. I read in something that toughbook posted that if dirt gets in aroung the mousepad and or touchscrene that is can cause the erratic movement. Well I tryied carefully cleaning both and found that the touchscrene started to work somewhat! I cleaned the crevaces with compressed air but still the touchscrene acts jumpy.
I was wondering if it is easy to remove the membrane and re-seat and clean around it. I think my problem may be mechanical because if i put pressure (slight) on the frame of the screne, or if i try to gently twist the frame during one of the mouses convulsions the jumping stops. As best as i can tell there is not any dirt in there but mabee it does not take much to give me all this greif. The machine if great other than this touchscrene problem. Honestly I can get by without it, but the fact that i cant get it to work makes me want to fix it. Any suggestions would be much apprecited

This is NOT for the faint of heart.. It can be done but you risk losing your touchscreen for good... Here's why.

Panny used double-sided foam tape to hold in the touchscreen. If you try to pull it out.. It will break.... So that leaves you with running a razor or x-acto blade around the inside of the frame. This will work to a degree but then you risk cutting your touchscreen ribbon cable. I have done this twice and I knew exactly where the cable was!

I have the same issue with a CF-28/600MHz at present. It has the jumpy screen and since I have custom GPS installed... There was no need to load the stock GPS drivers that bring up the ballpoint driver! I STILL have a little jumpy screen. I think I need a different driver too but I swear it is the correct one.

Try uninstalling the driver and then reinstall... See what happens. If you want to take apart the screen... be VERY careful... You never know... Yours may have already been out. Also... If you cut the foam... Unless it is replaced the screen loses its water resistance.

thanks I trust your input more than mine, I think i will try the software route again. I have looked on modlys server and all over for the drivers and I have yet to be 100% sure what drivers i need. I love this machine but if i cant fix the mouse I think I have a good reason to look for cf-29 :) I rember destroying my keyboard once and you bailed me out, I definitely dont want to try any cutting around my touchscrene.
    thanks
