Hello & Hi,
I have been working on my little project for a while. I was given a toughbook cf-19 mrk3, that I have upgraded slightly. So far I have put in gobbi2000 for gps, upgraded memory to 4g, installed 120gb SSD (brilliant upgrade) and now running Windows 7 proffesional.
Reason for doing this project is to simply learn about pc,s and what makes them work as best as I understand them, which is not very much.
The only thing I am looking for, at present, is, if it is possible to upgrade tweak in anyway the graphics and display. Im simply using the windows experiance index as a guide as to what to try and improve.
My Score is
Prosesor 3.9
Memory 4.7
Graphics 3.1
Graphics Gaming 3.3
Primary Hard Disk 7.2
Also any other recommended tweaks to performance woulod be great

Yes you can use modded drivers to gain some, but it's something you need to do in steps to make sure you get it right. since you already have a SSD drive, max ram, etc. your next step is going to be software tweaking. How far are you wanting to go with it? Go to your device manager and tell me exactly what graphics card you are running. I know it should be some version of the 4500 Intel in there.

user BaRRmaley on this forum has 8GB on his mk3.
With that much ram you can create a RAMdisk (1,2,3,4GB) for temporary files/scratch disk, etc.
there was a discussion in a thread here recently about Intel integrated graphics overclocking - using GMAbooster or modifying driver INF files.
Can't seem to find it now in the Panasonic section of NBR, however there are some threads in the other sections. -
GMA booster was going to be developed for the x3100 (965 chipset) and 4500 intel, but the guy never developed it. He didn't have the equipment to properly develop it(aka a machine with the correct hardware to work with). It will work on 915 and 945 graphics that are factory underclocked. Not all laptops are underclocked. The the desktops run at the full 400Mhz. All this does it unlock the GPU speed allowing it to reach the full speed that is built inside of it. Modding the files are going to be your only option on kicking the graphics some. Overclocking will produce lots of extra heat, I don't know if the passively cooled machine will handle it.
On the 4500 graphics you will get better performance with windows 7 and having at least 4 gb of ram, it maxes what shared video memory it can have.
(UMA 797MB Max(with 2GB ram) UMA 1551MB Max (with 4GB ram)
I have even seen Skyrim played on the 4500 with stock driver and graphics turned down. So there is some potential there.

Has anybody used the GMA booster for the 900/915 chipsets ? Can the toughbooks handle the heat ? I might try this version : GMABooster :: Download (Windows)
It seems that you have to download a new version every week, if you dont pay... -
I never had any heat problems on it with my CF-29. When I was looking for more of a boost in my CF-28 I also used "gamebooster" it doesn't help graphics but it is a program that will turn off some un-needed windows programs/services with one click, then when you are finished one cick to turn it back on. I would look for older version. It was free only. ( I think it was 1.0 something) The newer versions are free and now pro version. (think the last one I used was version 2) They added advertising to the free version.
