    Hi All,
My CF-30FCS64AM has a sticker on it saying Verizon Rev A. Does this mean that I can only use wireless service from Verizon?
If so does anyone know how should I apply in Canada to get service and how much the cheapest data plans would cost?
    Thanks,

Kind of hard of a non-Canadian to get a lot of details from our service providers. Our providers all want to add what is call a international plan to what we already have.

You as a Canadian resident have a your own plans. I found this link that might get you on the right track.

Urban Canadians get faster wireless than most U.S. users: PC Magazine - The Globe and Mail

In short, yes I think your Verizon WAN should work but you need to find a service provider that works/sells service in a Verizon frequency. Then your WAN will connect. If I can come to Canada and have a working international plan, I am sure you should be able to get service. This may limit you to a few providers. I just don't know the ins and outs.

I think Verizon will run on Bell...I checked a year or so ago but it cost to much for what you got. It was in the $60.00 range plus tax

Thanks for useful information. It looks a bit too expensive. I think I better not use it then.

As you know cellular phone plans in Canada are not cheap. On my plan I get 2GB's of data free for almost $70.00 per month, she said if I was to use a pad or laptop that I should at least double my data plan.
Where I live we only have a population of 4900 and I have no problem finding free WIFI. Living in Canada if you are looking for free WIFI all you need to do is look for a Tim Hortons (coffee shop) or even a McDonalds.

Thanks for the tips. I've got access to free WIFI at the institute where I'm studying. The thing is I'm moving to a new house for next semester,
for which the internet connection is on my own. So I was trying to see what is the best option for subscribing to an internet plan.
There is a Tim Hortons near my home. Coffee + doughnut + free WIFI actually sounds pretty good :)

I added data plan to our AT&T shared plan. Which already had one smartphone with 1G of data (My wifes), and my standard cell. All phones have high talktime and no roaming charges. It was $25 to add my CF-30 with a data sim and up our data to 4Gig per month.

I found a nice free program, and it really is free no hidden ad programs. What I like about it is it has what they called a
"Radar search" that looks for free wifi. It will beep faster like a geiger counter the closer you get to the better free wifi signal. Only been using it a week but it is testing out to work fine. This program has many other nice features as well. I think all laptops with wifi need this or something like it. If there is a better program out there let me know..

I wish it was that way in Canada but it's not. We only have a few carries so the prices are higher

Good idea Shawn but the way Tim's has it setup, at least at my location once you are 100" out it's gone.

Cantenna looks so cool! Although Tim's is about 10 min away (by walking) from my place

When I was using it, I was hooking to a signal over 1/2 mile away....
