Just 1 1/2 years ago I was happy with my semi-glued together (fell down stairs) Sony Vaio. Saw a Paramedic at work using a cf19, thought it was cool. Bought a cf27 from some guy in Canada with Win. 98, got hooked. Got a cf28 from psychothrasher (works better than Sony with vista), 2 1?2 more cf27's from Capt. Dogfish-they are still great working units, except the 1/2- 2 cf25's from ebay-with good batteries and HDD, $12.00 and $6.00 respectively, and now another cf25 from Gork!. Gonna have to stop this madness!
Sure beats getting into trouble on my days off.......

Long road ahead for me to catch up but I will get there. Only been here since July and I'm on the 3rd one. since parts are hard to find for the 72 I might end up bidding on a few "for parts or repair" ones.

Maybe now that I'm hooked on these Toughbooks, it might be time to get a newer model, newer than my cf28. Don't get me wrong, I love the cf28, but maybe something a little newer, that would run Windows 7? or maybe still run XP but have a faster processor, etc. What would be best, as long as it is still rugged like the cf 28?
    I'm open to suggestion (saw a refurbished cf30 on overstock.com, fo3 $395.00, with internal wi-fi, and a cd/dvd drive. already sold I'm sure)

Since you seem to like old Toughbooks, I have a CF-27 that is completely working, booting into 98se (minus the battery, it doesn't hold a charge) and the AC for $35 shipped. It is also missing the handle as I have scrounged it for other uses's. If that is a deal breaker then I can get the handle and give it to you.

    Please let me know

What have I gotten into! I'm going to try to upgrade but hey, I might be interested in the semi complete cf27/ cf28 carcass, and heck maybe the cf27 w/win9e (sans handle) Is it possible to upgrade the processor in my cf28? it is currently 800 Mhz, would be nice if it was 1.4 Ghz., or whatever could be installed. Just a thought.

I'll have to wait on anymore purchases for the next couple of weeks, having some lumbar disks trimmed this coming Thursday, be off work (but paid...thank god) for probably two+ weeks.

    Thanks,
    -DDaymen

    That is the correct driver
Can you manualy install from the device manager, and point to the updated drivers and force them rather than running the driver installer program

btw XP sp3 should have default drivers good enough for you to run @1024x764 @24 or 32 bit
In older Toughbooks I have been able to get by with only adding the hotkey driver , all device manager items check out fine , although its always a good idea to download the m/b chipset driver

What are your current resolution and colour settings
