Although I don't attend Nascar races anymore or follow the sport that much, I do believe the drivers are athletes.

I get tired driving my Ford Ranger at 65 mph for 2 hours with the air conditioner on.
I can't imagine driving at three times that speed for 4 hours in a 140 degree cockpit.

Much like hockey, seeing a Nascar race in person is very different than what is shown on TV.
There is so much more going on than what TV shows.

I agree Shawn. I have been going to New Hampshire Motor Speedway for 16 years . If anyone goes to a nascar race bring your RV and stay at the race track for 3-4 days. You will have a blast, NASCAR fans are the most friendliest people you will ever meet.

I've been to Pocono, Atlanta, and Watkins Glen for Nascar races. The road races are very different than the ovals. Any race is quite an event.

I've been to a few races years ago. Sorry... It's like watching golf to me. Let's face it... Everyone just wants to see a crash! Okay... NASCAR edges out golf... I haven't ever seen the carts crash.

Knowing this thread is about to make a hard left turn.......

I feel that way about baseball. The mascots are the most exciting part.
If you want to see crashes, go to ANY dirt track sprint car race. A sprint car crash is much more spectacular than any Nascar crash.

Not a Nascar fan very much, but the sponsor is awesome.
