This is something we all need when looking at used toughbooks or toughpads since only privileged people (!) can access config tables ...

To start off can someone please decode this cf31 model code and give some advice if it's a good config or one that should be passed by...

    Code is CF-31SF7031M

    Thanks!

    Craig.

Check the bios version and make sure it's not an M20 at the end? I think that's the weird bios. A lot of them have features missing and coded into that bios.

    Windows 7 Professional, Intel Core i5-3320M 2.60GHz, vPro, 33.274 cm (13.1 ") XGA Touch, 256GB SSD, 4GB, Intel WiFi a/b/g/n, TPM, Bluetooth, Dual Pass (Upper:WWAN/Lower:Selectable), AT&T 4G LTE, 56K Modem (RJ11), Custom BIOS, D-Ring & Strap, AT&T Logo Badge, Multi-drive, Toughbook Preferred

I think Ohlip is still doing customised CF31's. If it's possible to find a really nice Mk5 that's probably what I'd aim for. Only mk5's in Oz for sale are brand new ones with prices up around A$6k+

    How about CF-31WBG15LM? It's apparently a 2.7 GHz Mk4 system.

Regarding the BIOS version, where do I need to look on the BIOS screen view to see the important numbers?

Regarding SSD's for CF-31's are there any really good ones that are preferred? I see they are fairly common up to 1 TB capacity now.

When you look at the bios it will be V6-00L10 M20 as an example, that bios is a CF19Mk5.

Crucial,Samsung or Corsair, they tend to be the fastest SSD's. Intel,Sandisk are slow for ssd's , Kingston's are also good, just not as quick as the first 2 but cheaper. Just my 2 cents. :D

I tend to stick with the Samsung SSDs... Though I have also tried Kingston HyperX and one Intel.
