I decided to take a trip to NYC and check out the latest model toughbooks at the RCS Experience Store. They had CF-30, CF-19, CF-74, CF-52, W5, T5 and Y5 to play with there (and buy if I had a few thousand dollars to spare.) Needless to say I didn't buy a toughbook but I must say I was really impressed with the CF-19. It felt more solid than the CF-30 but perhaps it was because it was more dense. The semi-rugged CF-52 and CF-74 felt better than the average business notebook but not tough enough for me. The business rugged series was surprising light and small. If you are every in NYC i suggest stopping by and playing with the tough toys. (They had other computers and electronics also)

I guess I don't see what the big draw is to the CF-19. So you can twirl the screen and use the handwriting app.... What am I missing? Someone must love these things as they go for huge prices.

i like the inking features that only a digitizer has. I guess it opens up a lot more options than just a touchscreen. I might buy one so i definitely wanted to try it out before doing so.

For a lot less money, you can buy a Fujitsu 5031, put it in an otterbox, submersible, and get all of that. Doesn't have the "cool" factor as does a Toughbook, but the screeners at the airport had never seen one.

The "coolness" factor wasn't really that important as I was thinking about what to buy. I am trying to find the right computer to meet my needs and if I not considering buying another one for a few years and would actually buy a new toughbook, it was nice to give them a test drive.
