    Hi

ordered one of these recently and it was listed as having a serial port yet when it arrived it did not have one.
Looking to order from someone else but wanted to ask did they make the mk 3 with a serial port?
all the sellers in the uk are all using the same stock images so i am unsure wether to waste my time ordering a mk3 or getting a mk 2.

Are the mk 2 units any good with the celeron cpu?

Does the mk3 have a soldered serial port to the main board or is it on a ribbon connection?

    Thanks

Thanks for your reply, the ones on sale here in the uk all have a wired lan point and usb ports on that side of the unit. i dont suppose you know where i could possibly buy the serial port board from?

    Thanks

I could use a serial to usb but it makes it a bit of an eyesore as the application i use a serial port for is really picky and i have only found 1 usb adaptor that will work but its bulky for a handheld tablet.
I have seen some other guys say they buy parts from www.heartlandsi.com but they also only take orders on the phone i have seen commented and also i would need the part number.
I have a cf 53 i'm just repairing at the moment but would like a tablet for when i work away and these seem to have a decent spec for there age.

Thanks for your response, if anyone can confirm what i said regarding ordering on the phone from www.heartlandsi.com and needing part number i would be grateful.

    Thanks

No you don't need to phone in a order. I've been ordering from them for years all by email and never had a problem but not since covid hit. The problem for you is shipping is very high. At least $100.00 USA funds because it's sent by FedEx or at least in USA it is. There is a place in UK to get parts but I don't have the address

    Would a serial port from a mk1 or 2 work in a mk3?

You may need the bracket too. The pic shows a mk2 so that you can see the slot on the mb.

What I was getting at was that there was a UK listing of mk2 CF-D1s for parts. They did include the serial ports. They were only £10 so would be worth a punt.

    Long gone now though...

eBay item number: 254954402826. Might still be worth contacting the seller to see if they have any more.
