    Hello

I have an mk1 and mk2 toughpad fzg1. The mk1 won’t boot up as motherboard is faulty it’s in excellent condition and I have an mk2 that boots up but in very bad condition. I want to swap the parts from mk2 to mk1 body. Any help please. Even if I just change the screen of mk1 to mk2 and the fan as well as the one in mk2 is very dirty.

    Thanks.

I will upload the pin connector of screen in mk1 as I don’t know how to remove it.

I don't know if you are swapping screens or entire housing or what for sure.
    You bounced around a bit.

    Screens should swap.
Housing may not work. Motherboard and heatsinks are quite a bit different.
You need to compare both units side by side.
Proceed carefully as the housing / motherboard removal is detailed. Heat sink pads WILL need to be replaced. LCD cable connector ends break easily.

I will only swap the screen as I don't want to complicate things.. a bit hesitant regarding the cables though how to remove it?

Thanks for the reply. It was a success and I'm currently using it now. It's fast and awesome in windows 10 x63 v1903.

Just a question though, there is a GPS which is enables in the bios? Where can I see the drivers to get it working in GPS viewer?

    Cheers

You need the gps module to make that work.

    Thanks.

I thought it has already a GPS inside. Its wwan has a gps built in so I can navigate via map. Its awesome in windows 10.
I havea keyboard key from ikey. Do you know if there's any drivers available for that so the TouchPad can work like scrolling on the side. Because its pretty basic

Never found any improved drivers for an iKey keyboard. I looked a lot.

GPS on wwan is not a dedicated GPS module. The bios enables a dedicated GPS if installed.

That's right. But how come it wont recognise in gps viewer app?
Because if gps is in the bios, then theres a gps installed right?

Get into BIOS. F2 at boot. NOT PC Info.
Go to the page with the ports listed. Advanced tab
Click on the serial ports sub page. Serial ports line
It should list serial port and GPS.
If GPS is not listed there then you do NOT have a GPS module.

Some photos are of CF31-G1 is similar

win10 needs a couple extra settings for a gps module.
Cant recall 100% all of them.
Jeff is correct about enabling location sensor.
If you see gps auto in bios then you do have a gps module.
Might not work on auto setting for the port.

I have CF-19 MK 6 and MK7 and they all have GPS module auto in Bios running latest windows 10 pro. They all work out of the installation no extra settings to be enabled. Its just weird the FZ-G1 doesn't work. Though the EM7305 has a gps sensor and I can navigate maps driving in micorosoft maps.

    Thanks for this.

I will try because I don't have skylight sierra installed in FZ-G1 but I just had a look of my Motion R12 which has the same sierra module installed and the motion R12 has a NMEA sierra in device manager with skylight installed?

Where can I get the software for FZ-G1 or can I just use the one for my motion R12 rugged tablet software?

Pick one gps system to work with please.
Bouncing between wwan and dedicated gps is like mixing eggs and watermelon.

wwan /sierra gps is different than a dedicated gps module ( serial port in bios)
Each requires different software and different settings.
Sierra skylight has nothing to do with dedicated gps, however it may work with wwan based gps.
