I'm new to this, so these questions may be pretty obvious to most others.

I have a Panasonic CF-25 model and want to power it. My options as best I can tell is to acquire a battery charger that would charge the battery to power the lap top on its own.

My question is, does the Panasonic CF-25 have an internal battery? If so, where is it?

After using a power adapter plugged into the wall, shouldn't that partially charge the battery?

Is there any way to tell if my battery is dead other than trying a battery charger?

Lastly, do these "universal" battery chargers work pretty well? They are cheaper than the brand specific chargers, so I was wondering how well they performed.

    Anything else I am missing?

    Thanks for your time.

so you have a cf-25 that does not power on at all, even when plugged in?

It does power on, when using an adapter to outlet.

well there isnt any other way of checking ur battery unless you charge it,
we have a computer shop here which will test the battery for you for a smaal fee..............
but best just get a charger, even if the battery works or not you still need a charger to test it............
now about aftermarket chargers i have seen afew ppl buy them my mate has the aftermaket car charger and home charger for his cf-28 which he bought of ebay and the 2 still cost less then buying the original charger,
my advice is aftermarket do work and can be trusted but before buying if on ebay make sure you check up on there feedback as you dont want the cheaply made aftermarket chargers,
even though if you do have time search around for abit am sure you'll get a original charger of ebay for less then half price of new..........
    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!! :spinny:

where is the battery? Is it part of the floppy disk drive that you can remove with the area marked "MP release" on the bottom?

chances are, if you can power it up from the power cord but not from the battery, then the battery itself is dead. It's possible the 25's charging circuit has a problem, but my money is on a bad battery.

Have you tried using the "Battery Refresh" option in the BIOS? Go into setups and hit your right arrow once. You should be in the EXIT area. Arrow down and select battery refresh and let it go for a few hours. It has saved several batteries for me. I do it at least every two weeks on mine.

I entered setup and didn't see that option.

I hooked up an AC adapter/battery charger that powers the laptop, but apparently not the battery itself, as it won't work after being connected for several hours.

I guess that means the battery's shot huh? When looking in the power management menus, there is no battery recognized.

Is there a reasonable place to buy replacement batteries, or do I have to wait to find one on ebay?

The BIOS on the 25 isn't like that of the 27/28, there is VERY, VERY little you can do there.

25s are old, I'm putting my money on a dead battery. My old war-bird doesn't work for long on battery either.

I havent' checked but you should probably be able to find a good deal on ebay.

This is a longshot but you could try to split the case and rebuild your battery! There is gobs of info about rebuilding battery packs on Google. Try it! You've got nothing to lose!
