I've got (2) CF-30's MK1s which supposedly had new screens installed (IIRC) one keeps losing it's calibration, the other won't calibrate at all. I tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing the driver on the unit that won't calibrate. The one that won't calibrate was hardly used at all (it was a backup unit)... I purchased these units from someone here.
Recently I received a "replacement" unit which when I did what I was instructed to do (install one of my hard drives into their unit) it REMOVED my touchscreen driver and claimed there was no touchscreen. Despite attempts to re-install it kept saying there was no touchscreen installed.
I'm not a clueless git but I was insulted by someone and I have (3) units now (one which doesn't belong to me) that are NFG and quite a lot of money thrown into the wind.
Ironically the one that keeps losing it's calibration is still my primary unit since it works the best of all three.
What I am trying to find out is for the unit that claims "functionality not supported" when I try to run the calibration utility is there a way to find out if the touchscreen is installed. Maybe they had a loose cable or something.
Second, the unit that won't calibrate seems to be responding to screen presses but the cursor seems to be "off the screen" as when you attempt to calibrate you can hear it beep (i enabled beeps) and never see the cursor unless you move the cursor with the touchpad.
Are there any initial values I could zap into some registry to get it closer to being calibrated?
This unit used to work as I turned it on and installed a few packages (Office. Photoshop, OziExplorer, etc) then stayed off until recently.
Thanks for any clues to resolve any of the above.
PS I tried to work it out with the people involved but they won't respond to me any more, undeservedly so I might add. I've never done a thing wrong to either of them. The only mistake I made was buying this crap.

When you got them did they send you any restore disks with them. If they did I would run the restore disk and see what happens.

Hi, no they didn't.
My TB expertise pretty much ended at the CF-28 and I've had no time to disassemble anything newer.
I understand that for my particular CF-30s they had new touchscreens installed (to solve the MK1 touchscreen issues I assume) so I was wondering if there is some "factory" reset that can be done to initialize the "calibration" data?
I'm waiting to see if the 2 individuals who were involved with my units will finally respond to me again. I'm not posting to embarrass them but maybe they will realize they've been unfair to me and help me get past this.
Granted I only paid $1k each for them which is a pittance compared to what these units cost when new but I am not rich. -
Hi,
On the unit that does not support the touchscreen, did you enabled it in the bios?
Btw, it is best to set the bios to default on all your laptops -
ETA: There may be alot of things unsaid at this point. Hope it all works out OK.
