    Alright....
So, there are quite a few UFL connectors inside my 29 and i'm curious if they are for specific uses, or just pass throughs for whatever. Anyone know?

For instance, I have an mk1, and one of my wifi leads are routed off the keyboard interface board (r194 and r195??? i forget) and the other is routed off the dock antenna pass through. Are they "dumb" passthroughs who's only purpose is to be able to reroute different wireless leads through?

The reason I ask, is that I would like to replace the rg316 (too thick) lead I got from china, for my wwan, with the oem leads. But they are too short, and there are 2 ufl females that need to be connected in the middle. I pulled them out of a 29 that had those wwan leads ran off the dock passthrough, and I want to keep my wifi on that dock passthrough.

do you know if it's safe to keep wifi routed through 1 of the sets of ufl on the keyboard board, and use the other set for my wwan, or would that cross talk/interfere or something?

I also added a wifi antenna to my internal bt dongle, and would have preferred to utilize the internal ufl connectors to make the bt dongle and the antenna separable, but didn't know if it would be kosher.

    Thanks.

The empty U.FL on the keyboard interface are used to send the wwan antenna to the dual pass thru docking connector. They are a passive passthrough so you can connect whatever you want to them. But you will need the dual pass thru to make it work like the factory intended.

what do you mean dual passthrough?

on the other 29's I just got, the wwan was routed thruogh 1 set, and the other was left empty

    Here's a stock CF-29HTM50BM.
The third image shows blue from lid antenna and below it on the little board the connector from the PCMCIA.
The other two models I opened just run the white (Aux) to the KB PCB and the black from the wireless (Main)to the exterior antenna pass-through. They had no lid corner antenna.

Dual pass thru means there are two gold contacts on the back of the unit for mating with the docking sattion. This allows you to connect both a WIFI antenna and a WWAN antenna via TNC connectors on the docking station.

yeah, my 29 is an mk1,so it onlly has the single dock antenna pass through.

More importantly, ya'll have helped me determine that, yes, they are dumb pass throughs for jumping connections from one place to another....

    Thanks!
