I got my Toughbook CF 19 a while ago, and this problem has been here since I got it, but I never really bothered with it since it really doesn't hinder anything. It's just annoying. A Windows Notification keeps popping up on my taskbar saying "USB Device Not Recognized". Now I don't have anything plugged into any USB port, but I think the problem is coming from the little black box on the side of the notebook, which probably holds the Bluetooth and GPS receiver.

The Bluetooth device seems to be working fine, but one of the devices is listed as "Unknown Device" and it has no drivers, and I'm thinking this is the GPS. Are there any GPS drivers or something I can download to make the annoying notifications go away?

    Its probably not your gps
To test that disable gps in the bios
And see if you continue to get that message

In device manager do you have in Human Interface Devices tab ,the touchpanel
It can be a usb device in the newer toughbooks

Sorry I forgot to display my model. It's CF19CDGC2VM.

It should have GPS and WWAN, as well as Bluetooth.

I don't know how to tell if it's a problem device or not. Everything in Device Manager is either Intel, or Taiyou Bluetooth or a USB Hub which all are working properly according to the property notes. But the little notice still keeps popping up and it says the issue is with the "Unknown USB Device".

OH the dreaded phantom USB device! I have that on a CF-28 and the USB port does not work. I am afraid it may be the motherboard or USB controller, something shorts out and it thinks you have a USB device plugged in. Try plugging a device into the USB ports if they don't work then you have a similiar problem. You have a CF-19 so you may be covered under warranty otherwise it could be a costly repair.

I only have two USB ports and both seem to be functioning properly. It's probably something internal with the motherboard like you said. And I don't think I get a warranty since I bought this from eBay at a really low price. =[ But if it's going to be costly like you say, I think I can deal with the small annoyance of a notification constantly popping up all the time.

Thanks for the drivers Mick. I'll try them out.

    As I have said before
Go into the bios and try one by one disabling items and see if the problem remains
If you can narrow the problem down its a lot easier
The is probably any of 20 or so drivers that could a problem
