I have a CF-29, MK 4 see sig below and when I plug in my USB mouse in the side USB port it sometimes goes crazy. I used the OEM restore disks to re install the Operating system and all drivers. Any ideas?? BTW I have tries another mouse and it does the same thing.

Does it do the same in the back port? Sounds like the same reaction you would get if you had a gps which is PS/2 mouse related. Now I am on a CF-29 Mark3 that I factory restored. In system hardware device manager the only thing in mouse is the touchpad/touchscreen.
By the way what SP are you in? I'm on SP2 at present. I may have to go find a mouse to see if it changes setting in device manager.(adds a device)
Sorry 'bout all questions no answers.

I'm using SP3 and I just switched the mouse to the rear USB port and so far so good we will c what happens. BTW I do not have an GPS on this TB.

If you're using an optical mouse, sometimes it means that the mouse U's soon going to die due to a loose connection inside of it.

Possible scenario: since the side-mount USB port is quite recessed, it may be that you are not getting a good connection through your USB mouse's plug connector.
That's the reason several of us have RadioShack USB Port Plug Extenders with our CF-29 Toughbooks. -

It could also be your cell phone...

I hope that I don't go crazy before I die

Too late for me. I already have a loose connection and I am at least that crazy.

Thanks for the laugh. I was cracking up when I read that.

Try dipping the mouse in some nice soothing chamomille tea; I find that always makes an erratic mouse VERY calm.

If I were any calmer I'd be catatonic. -

 ...and very dead too!!

Out of curiosity, in went a USB mousie and things worked as they should. Could it be a buggy port?? -
