All,
I am currently a medical student who works part-time as an automotive technician to help pay my way through medical school (and to give me something else to do to maintain my sanity).
In EMS, we were early adopters and have had them ever since they first came out, so I'm familiar with what they can handle. As such, they seem like the only computer I would trust to survive in a shop environment. Therefore, I have recently invested in a CF-19 Toughbook tablet to run my diagnostic software and oscilloscope software off of- the computer interface is ideal for recording and zooming in on signals of interest.
Which leads to my question: do any of you know of any sort of USB surge protector that I could put in-line with my Picoscope?
It's tragic enough to lose a $3000 labscope, but it only adds insult to injury to have your Toughbook laid low at the same time by an errant secondary ignition voltage spike.
Thank you in advance,
Techniker

Isolating USB - Maxim
I have a cheap Chinese UT81B scopemeter which comes with an optical-to-usb connection and its own pretty basic software. I use it for simple/risky stuff on vehicles and save the Tek 720A (serial port, expensive) for when I actually need 100MHz. -
