    Hello,

I am new here, but fortunatelly since yesterday i have found many usefull informations about my GF's toughbook. Thanks for all FAQ and great threads :)

I have questions that "search" option couldnt answear...
Does the CF-28(S) have internal usb connector? I mean a slot like in PC motherboards to add extra ports. I have got GPS-USB and i just wanted to connect it without using the rear port.
Is it possible to use RIM-board or whatever it's part or connector (i just dont need GSM modem) for something usefull besides soldering GPS module?
Is it possible to use floppy-mount to something usefull - I mean CD-rom, etc.?
And the last but not least: Do anyone here have spare PCMCIA cover? My GF broke ;-) it and it's hard to find it ... especially in good price.

    Regards,
    woocky

    Welcome to the forum!

Yes... The search function is a little lame here... Your best bet is to use Google and then follow the links to any notebookreview link.

The CF-28 does NOT have an internal USB plug... But you CAN make one... Others have. The RIM card provides an interface for several projects... Some of which can be found here. There are threads about various things on the forum.

I'm sure you could use the floppy/CD caddy for something other than what it was designed for but you would need some serious skills to do it. I don't think anyone here has tried that.

The PCMCIA covers can be had at www.heartlandsi.com for $22... (You need to call them.) But then shipping will get you at $20 - $30... So it is best to get in on a group order or to order several things from them to make the shipping more in line with what you get. They come with a set of hinges too.

Good luck and please post any mods you do!

    Rick

Thank You very much for replying. I will search then for threads about that.

Ok. I was just crushed by price of CD's and as I have some old laptop optical drive I had little hope the caddy can be tuned for that. Pity it's not.

I dont wish my GF to break anything else ;-) I guess i will need to fix it by soldering or sth ;-)

Thanks. I will do so as soon as minipci arrives :)
