I'm not impressed so far. (one hour) I like words instead of gui's. (Graphic User Interface)
TS works out of the box.
I added calibrate_touchscreen as in 10.10 thread.
Tuned up touchpad as in 10.10.
Seems to have a faster load of Live CD. The dual boot bit is different. I have not loaded it that-a-way yet.
The GUI's on the left are handy for a TS. Just right for a thumb press. They can be deleted...I removed Firefox and added Chromium. (Chrome)
More as things occur.![]()
Respectfully submitted,

Interesting! Not Toughbook, but Unbuntu related. I am building a Media Center PC based around MythBuntu 11.04. I am pretty excited about this project and plan to make a Media Center that will not only play Blu-Ray DVDS, but captured movies in a variety of media, .flv, .mov, divex, etc...
This is in addition to the DVR and ability to transcrive digital media like Netflex to DVD for viewing on my Toughbook.
It will also make handy place to keep and play my 18,200 MP3s! I admire Sadmar's attemps to bring Linux to the Toughbook world. Really, if you have not given it at least a try, you are cheating yourself! -
Up and running "Natty Narwhal" Mythbuntu 11.04.

On the CF-51R and NOT the CF-29 described above...the hibernate on lid close did not work exactly. So off to Synaptic Package Manager for (see below). Needs a re-start after install unlike a lot of the other Ubuntu programs.
On the CF-29 I'm getting a freeze requiring a hard boot. Could this be because it's a dual boot 11.04/XP ?
Had guests for a couple weeks and I am just now starting to use 11.04. I'm liking it better. It's a natural for the touch screen....select your weapon with the left thumb.
Here's that pic.
ps...attaboy Az!
Jeff....tinkering with the 29 hmmmm hand me that hammer.Attached Files:

The CF-29 is hibernating like a baby now. I had power preferences set to stand-by with lid closure. I guess the new script (previous post) and power management were arguing.
Resume from hibernate NOW goes to dual boot menu, password and then to the last page viewed.Attached Files:

I havent included any dvr type stuff yet or tv tuners, just a pc with boxee pretty much -
But I do not want to make this a HTPC thread. -
As promised:
CF-29 Mark 3 doesn't like the buttons on the side part of 11.04. A classic view is offered in lieu of the side-bar gui's. Also the pointer disappears when hovering. Graphic/chipset issues as the same disk in a Mark 4 is fine. I tried the intel upgrade talked about elsewhere. More as I tinker.

Just Google the right question. For the Mark 3 look for Unity 2D in software center. Select it from Login Screen Settings after installation. Re-boot. As always back-up before making system changes. Once in a while the pointer fades out but not as before.
Up and rolling on CF-51 AB0EAKM.....no issues.

A little input wanted. I just restored a CF-29 Mark3 from 11.04 back to 10.10. The graphics even with the use of Unity 2D as mentioned above had too many issues for the person using it.
CF-29 Mark4 and above no issues.
Anyone else using 11.04 on low mark 29s out there?

Update: In [system][admin][login screen] select Ubuntu Classic (no effects) for a better play with older units. You end up losing the side-bar buttons (Unity). I'll update as tests are run. CF-51B likes it but it had no problem with Unity. Yet to test on CF-29 Mk3 and below.
Anyone playing with 11.04? I see a lot of people are looking.
My main using machine (51 in my sig) is still on 10.10 BTW.
