Being the noob that I am I came across a computer in my stock today that had some components that I was very unfamiliar with. I have some pictures of them if anyone can give me an idea of what they are. They were from a CF 28P

The last pic is of a Sierra SB-300 cellular data modem mounted on a RIM board. That board is what people use to mount after-market GPS modules to (and it's the same board Panasonic uses with their own factory GPS engine for the CF-28).

I think the other board behind the antenna cable access panel is an antenna matching board of some sort to suit the cellular data application.

I believe it's mostly a military-style option as I wouldn't imagine there is a lot of call at consumer-level for anything like that.

The triangle pcb board is an inverter for lighted keyboard( tactile) or I say electominiscent kayboard. and the blue wire is an antena cable for rim.

Yes... The small PCB on the bottom is the inverter for the emissive keyboard. That is pretty much the only thing that it works for. If you have a lot of these... Please let me know... I have A LOT of emissive keyboards with no inverters, light sensors and the little cables to hook it all together...

The other is a rather oldish modem that (I don't think) you can even get service for. If you could... it would probably be at the old .99 cents per minute rate!) The PCB that it is mounted to is (what we call) the "RIM Board" or "daughterboard"... If you search threads around here you will see that it actually has many uses as it feeds into where you want to go and is physically stable platform for doing just about anything you might want to do. There's plenty of space in there for all sorts of mounts/GPS engines/Etc...

This is the only one i've seen out of the lot of 200 that I received. Maybe in the next lot that i get I will have more. As of right now this computer doesn't really even work, but I think after some tinkering and parts swapping I will get it to run like a champ. I'm gonna take that RIM board out though and save it in case I decide to keep one of these computers for myself. I do all my work on 3 different HP laptops and I'm gonna need to expand my forces here soon. Will this RIM board from a 28P go into a 29E or L?

No... The PCB is for the CF-28 only. If you want to modify a CF-29... That is a WHOLE different conversation...
