Not great reception with any of the places or antennas that I tried on the cf-72's

The cf72 that I have now has the rare optional cisco wi-fi utilizing a single pull up antenna built-in to the lid

The original card is replaced with a Atheros based mini-pci card and it has better reception than the earlyer models antennas that I placed behind the side lcd bezels towards the top of the screen

The antenna's that I used were smaller than the antennas you show

Even my system has poorer range than a cf-18/19/29/30 , and the mods on the other cf-72's were even worse

You will have to be close to the access point

Due to battery being an hour using that speed switch xp utility for each battery it's not gonna be as mobile as the 29 is right now. The router is on max power setting and for now I just use wired connections for updates. I turned it up so I can get reception in the garage under the car when I need to send/recieve pics of what I'm doing to someone.

Was quoted $119 from my local battery shop but no clue if it was a newer knockoff like my 29 or the half dead oem like the 2 I have.

    A 29 battery or a 72?

That was for the 72. Seeing that I got the knockoff for the 29 under $80 I think this is a oem or a seriously high priced knock off. I keep seeing them on ebay but they are gone before I can sign on or my phone app finishes loading.

Replied to pm. For that price I'm just gonna go for the antennas in that listing. I wasted more in one restaurant on sub par food.

I don't know if this will help, but I did this to a Cf 50 I am working on that came without antennae.
I got a cf 51 antenna (it is about an inch long and a quarter inch wide) I used the one with the gray wire, if it matters. I got a tiny wire tie and attached the antenna to the ground wire under the left hinge cover. It is quick, simple and close to the mini pci socket. The 50 has a plastic hinge cover so this works well.

Just above the cpu heatsink is a cutout for it and GPS to go right up the back of the lid. I meant to take a pic but I just got on it to see how the 2.5GHz cpu is. So far no regrets almost done with this build. Before I order it I might try the 51's wifi antennas cause he isn't gonna use it.
