Will I have any problems installing a 1.6Ghz motherboard in my CF29 that only has a 1.4Ghz motherboard in it at the moment?

Any one got one for sale?

there are two on fleabay now for 39.95, may be some issues swapping in a 1.6 into a 1.4. probably has been done may be the sd card slot could be an issue and usb ports am not sure if there isn't some difference in the heat sink "fork" as well. the gurus can give more info cause they know the minute differences between the different models...Driller

there is 1 thread here discussing these details. If memory serves me correctly, the op of that thread was successful in swapping out the mobos.

THe only real physical limitation of swapping mobo's, AFAIK, is that mk1 has a ps2 port where newer marks have a usb port in that location.

Also ps2 port on the Mk2. I think only the Mk4 and Mk5 have the SD card reader which is on a separate board attached to the MB.

Seems that I remember that the heatsink, and maybe the bottom of the case, is different.

Umm.. You guys really need some research and reading. It was already been done long time ago(two years ago) but need a few modification on case like on case from 1.4ghz you need to drill an slot for sd card reader and from 1.3ghz you need to drill two slot, one at the back for USB port and an slot on PCMCIA for sd card. On top of that the aluminum heat dec..pating block are different but it can be transfer to any cf-29 buttom cover but the slot for ram is a bit offset. My suggestion is to get the right buttom cover for 1.6ghz.

I have put a mk3 mb in a mk1 case. Just had to modify the rear ps2 port opening for the mk3's usb.
A mk4 or mk5 requires the slot for the sd reader and the different heatsink plus the ps2 / usb mod for a mk1 or mk2 case. I can not find any photos or the original posters thread on the swap. I figured I would have saved it for reference when I did my swap, but it is missing in action.
