There might be something about this but I was thinking of buying this: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Panasonic-...3&hash=item3b2b498d95:g:AxgAAOSwFeNcalFC#rwid. Is it a good deal? I have a HDD at the ready as well.
Realistically I just need to use this as a system to have my files on a Dell system to be on the toughbook for later usage. Should I go for a CF-29?

The cpu is for another one thats a 600MHz PIII 128MB RAM

Ok that’s fair. I think I might have a ac adapter from the m34 if that works. I have everything for it as well as 2000. I might think about a Cf-29. But that’s fine about the 600. I’m gonna upgrade ram to 700 something. Thanks for replying to me

OK just wondering because I ordered the wrong one off eBay. The power adapter after further viewing online for the cf-28 has a 16v ac adapter. I think that (correct me if I'm wrong) the PCMCIA is card-bus capable. I have a usb PCMCIA card so is it compatible? It is with 2000.

    We need to talk....

    I have CF-28, 29 and I think a couple of CF-30 MK 1.

Before you go the ebay trip just be advised that I have everything that you want. As in 4 or 5 CF-28, 15 or more CF-29 and the last two CF-30.

When I sell occasionally, the correct power supply is included. Annnd a caddy annnd other bits and pieces. LOTS of bits and pieces.

I run a sheep ranch and do toughbooks for fun???

Just decide what you want and we can talk PM about it.

I can tell you one thing about Jeff. If you get one from him you won't be searching on eBay for the parts you need to get it up and running. It will come already to go. On eBay you just never know what you are going to get.

Ok. So I have a 20 GB IDE For it and caddy. I might consider the sheep man way if I can get the link to his account to see pricing. And if I’m honest I won’t use it very often maybe every 5-6 days. I have a working battery at the ready. The 600 mhz is fine where it is. So can the 1000 mhz take 768 mb ram because there is 256 on the mother board so then I put a 512 mb laptop thing. Is that reasonable?

Ok that’s good. I will only use it every now and then for the cardbus card. Should I go for that cf-28? I have everything I need to get it up and running. Have a HDd and caddy.

This is the one I’m talking about. The ac adapter says 16v but I have a m34 so I’ll use that. Windows xp pro with winternals erd commander 2005 as OS? Sound like a good deal for around 100 Canadian dollars?

He's from Canada so after paying the extra shipping, customs duties and changing our money to USA funds the grand total is only $152.43 Canadian
That's the problem when you live in Canada...duties and changing our money to USA funds at least doubles the price.

    Thanks Blair,
Did not know his location...thus a Canadian seller might cost less in the end.
How much fees are charged for a US seller sending to our great neighbors up north?

On that auction the shipping charge was $36.00 to canada + 15% tax at customs + 40% discount rate to buy USA funds ( $1.00 USA cost us $1.40 Canadian) so something that looked like a great deal turns the other way after you add all the .... +++++

So you know what it's like to have to pay all that extra crap. The good part for me is I live in a border town so I am about a mile from the US Post office and that saves me $$$ and some times I can bring up to $40.00 across with no duty :D

I mean here it’s like absurdly overpriced. The last week I posted on this forum about a toughbook. In Canada the price was like I don’t even know what. I’ve lived in Manitoba for like 10 years so it’s worse when I have to shop it from Florida or out of country. So I mean here the go book is still like $130 Canada. I think that is a little much

TBG96, SHEEPMAN does not sell on eBay. I live in Alberta and have dealt with SHEEPMAN many times on many units. You will save more money in the end buying from him than someone on eBay. Tell him what you want/need in a unit and he will send you a turnkey unit with the specs requested. Turn the unit on and away you go.

As far as prices go, you as the potential buyer has very little to say about the price. Once you have communicated what you want/need in a unit, the seller will tell you what they want for the unit. You may make an offer, but lowballing will only insult the seller. If you do not like the price, say 'Thanks' but don't have the funds, and move along. Buying anything from the US is expensive. If the price with all the extras (shipping, duty, exchange) is beyond your means, then save up more money or look for a different/cheaper unit.

If you decide to go ahead with a purchase from SHEEPMAN you will not be disappointed. I never have. If you buy from a seller in the US on the 'bay, then good luck.

There is a friend who lives in BC who sells on eBay. His units a customized and turnkey, but he has nothing you are looking for and his prices are not in your ball park.

Hope this helps deciding to deal with SHEEPMAN or not.

So now my issue is that on a 600 MHz I bought on Mercari the motherboard has blown capacitors and I don’t have the tools to recap it. So anyone have a CF-28 MK1 motherboard. 600 MHz motherboard on my want list

I’ll check if I have a CF-28 MK1 that works. I know I have a Mk2 but it has a bunch of information so I’ll check on a bin of laptop parts and toughbook parts

Alright the 600 mhz off Mercari has been fixed. I really just took out the motherboard from some random 600 I bought from a yard sale with like 5 other Toughbooks. Now it’s back in business. However I tried to replace the CPU in it and I successfully did it put a 800 MHz in. But the bios wouldn’t recognize it so it showed as 850 MHz. So I will proceed to try to make it work. Ram wasn’t easy. I installed a 512mb stick in and broke the thing both the ram and the slot so I have some useless ram stick in my favourite 600
