    Hello everyone,
I have a spare Gobi1000 modem and I need GPS unit that would output NMEA via serial interface to one of my radios.
I'm wondering if there is a possibility to power up the modem and get NMEA out via serial interface.

Any ideas how to do it or if that's doable at all will be really appreciated, I tried to google it but no luck.

    Thank you!

If you do get a wwan card with gps, I bet you could set it up with a Rasberry Pi or similar and Linux OS.

Easier to buy a used working Garmin off ebay for $10, but a fun project to tinker with anyway.

Easiest & cheapest option is probably ebay from China. Search NMEA 0183 GPS Module. From about £5 including P&P for Ublox copies, which work fine. I've fitted quite a few internally to older chartplotters and I keep one with a spare DSC VHF in a locker well away from electrics in case of lightning strike.
