Does anyone know of a utility that can show the cpu temp on a CF28 600 mhz P3? I've tried the programs that I know, Everest, Astra32 and a few dedicated temperature utilities that I downloaded, and none are able to show the cpu temperature. I did a search of the forum last night and wasn't able to find any threads or posts about this, so I'm asking. I'm not having any problem and I'm not expecting any, but it would be nice to be able to check it. Thanks.

I'm not positive about this, so please don't cane me if I'm wrong, but I'm not sure that the PIII 600Mhz chips required a temp probe, and therefore it wasn't *Mandatory* that manufactures put temp probes on the chips. *Some* MB companies still did, knowing that starting at 800Mhz, Intel was going to require it. This is information that I had to pull out of my memory, and it was on the far back shlelf...so, like I said, I could be wrong about it being the 600, it might have been earlier. NOW, this is not to say that MBs didn't have temp probes anyway, they just were not required until the higher temp operation required temp protection and shut down.

*Beau's Shelf Theory of Memory - A Human's memory is like a storage shelf system with and open back. You go to store a new memory and as you do, it pushes the previous memory futher back on the shelf. As you continue to put new memories on, more slide to the back. If you try to fill the shelf with too much information, too fast, the old memories are pushed off the back and poof, lost. This means that to inprove your memory, you need to build more, and better, shelfs..... SEE... You thought high school shop was never going to be good for anything!!! :D

Personally... I have been trying to convert the file cabinet into a hard drive.... No luck yet

I use "MobileMeter Version 0.3.1.0" on my W2K CF-27Mk2 (Pentium II) and XP CF-18. It shows CPU temp, CPU clock, HDD temp and battery (dis)charge levels on the Desktop. If your CF-28 has an ACPI bios it might work.

Nice extra feature in this software is its possibility to show wear level of the battery.

Mmmmhmmm... my memory problem is that as I get older, my RAM get more random, less access...

On the bright side, my hard drive does seem to stay harder with intermittent usage...

    Yeah...

My secret to happiness boils down to knowing the correct answer to 3 questions:

Would I rather be right, or be happy?

What if this is as good as it gets?

Where can I buy a comfortable pair of shoes?

If you know these things, you can handles anything else that comes along...

well I got the first 2 questions down but I can never seem to find comfortable shoes anywhere. this is why I wear flip flops to work then walk around in my office barefooted. kinda sucks when I lose a screw and find it with my foot

    BTW Congrats mnem!!!

Currently wearing Ecco Freewalkers - expensive-ish, but they are more comfortable than going BAREFOOT. Plus, they actually helped my bum knee heal up after several weeks... I DO NOT LIE.

    Hi,
Michael, thanks for the tip. I just installed Mobile Meter on my CF-29 and it seems to work. Nifty little piece of software. Still testing it.
