Can I use the older keyboard VBKL01 with the newer VDL02 display?
I can't tell the difference between the older keyboard and the newer keyboard from the spec sheets. Does anyone know?

    Thanks,
    Tim

    Look at outputs
    1st should be standard keyboard
2cd Fn output ,thats the only conector that connects between them it would have to match the pin count at least

    Tim,
Looking at both manuals (I only have 01 keyboards and monitors here) I would say yes. They both have the same cabling and all the function cable does as far as I can tell is send data from the function buttons on the display to the keyboard, kind of like those add on numerical keypads you can get for laptops. The key board cable to the dock/computer is just a keyboard cable. The keyboards themselves are just your old familiar CF-27-28-29 types. I'm about to open up a keyboard, I'll let you know what I find.

Huge difference in price on evil bay between the 01's and 02's keyboards. I couldn't tell from panny's info or the various pictures of keyboards plugs. I have a VDL02 screen, seems like a inexpensive risk to get a 01 keyboard.

    Hey Cap,
Did you see that photo? You try to put up a picture that you figure nobody else has and somebody else posts the same thing. Must not have been reading many posts before he registered.

    Iceman,
If your talking about my man Tim, he's good people. I think you inspired him to come up with that picture. They say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Actually you're both good people, but they have Great Whites where he dives!

To keep peace in the family I changed my avatar, no hero shot with the hat on my knee.

Most folks have no clue what its a picture of- hovering the MK V in the column.

I freedive a lot by myself and I'm not afraid to tell ya, I get shark fever!

The Mk V diving is a big hoot, that Hat is the last DESCO Navy MK V built in the millennium, it belongs to a local log truck driver who always wanted to be a hard hat diver. He won that in a raffle and traded off some old Russian three bolt stuff he had collected to get most of the jake put together- all he had to do was find someone to teach him how to dive, put it together and have all the support gear.- He had never dove before in any way shape or form. We've got all the commercial junk to support it so a couple times a year we train him.

Naw, I meant, what are the odds. We were just talking about that company out your way who makes those hats still. To find out that there were actually two people on this site willing to get in the water in those coffins.
I thought it was pretty funny. All we need now is some popcorn and Wake of the Red Witch playing on the tube.

See post to Cap. Find that site in the archive posts about that company that is still making them. Look at what the are selling a hat for!

i can say without a doubt, yes you can.

i assume you know how to hook it up to get teh fn keys to work on the vdl, but i will explain it.

you will need 2 cables to the vkb. one is the ps2 cable that goes into the machines ps2 port. then you will have a fn key cable that goes from the vdl to the vkb.

if you need any more help on the vkb or vdls you can pm me.
