i think it can probably get in the side usb slot without trimming
that slot is really deep, and it has a plastic cover so no problems with the signal

It´s a cheap upgrade, sure. I have placed it on the side slot, other USB Sticks are often to big for this place, i use this one from eBay

This is old news.... And is a cheap hack if you can get it to fit on your model. I tried it on one of mine... But you'll need needle-nosed pliers to remove it if you can get it in. Plus you lose an external USB port.

I use a rounded BT mini on my CF-18, it works great and blends in with the other bulky port covers without sticking out much.

But on some models, at least on the CF-18, it matters which USB port because some ports can handle more current than others. On the CF-18 (Mk.4) if I plug an external CD into the USB port nearest the power connector it runs fine. But if the BT adapter is next to the power connector and I plug a CD into the front USB port, it gives an overcurrent warning  and won't operate the CD drive. YMMV

I do think it sucks to loose a USB port to this, but it is darn cheap

I guess since its tiny we could wire it inside the toughbook. I am going to search the forums, i am sure its been done. Then maybe i could also install my BT GPS

    Hi,
First post! New ToughBook CF-29 HTM50BM Owner! which is from SBC as I gathered.
First thing I would like to do is get BlueTooth onto my Toughie! I have read the posts about adding aftermarket GPS/Bluetooth internally; and it's just a bit over my technical abilities(maybe later). Bluetooth PCMCIA cards seem neat, but I have plans for the two PCMCIA card slots.
My Question is has anyone got any of those tiny USB BlueTooth Dongles to fit into the USB in the rear compartment, and still have the door close and seal shut? It seems to me the Pico sized Bluetooth Dongle may work, considering it is smaller than the one mentioned in the first post. I do not want to put a Bluetooth device into the side USB, as I will actually use that USB port for a USB hub when other devices are needed, or when I use my BlackBerry 8120 as a Modem.(which is cool cuz I can surf the net and talk on the BlackBerry at the same time!)
