I did not perform a clean install on this trial. MS changed the video driver during the install. I installed the previous driver and the brightness does work now. However the screen pop up is not working anymore. I will get it working when time allows and post the steps.

Yes it is, but if the video driver is wrong or messed up it will have a bearing on the Hotkey. That dang video driver messes with too much!

Seemingly unrelated question: if you mute your computer, are you able to un-mute it?

You know guys this is one of the big problems with W10. Just look at Mr.Fox's led's in his Alienware and it's not just him now.

Video drivers on a Cf19 are a real beast..

Blair, I did a quick read of some of that thread...It changed my mind about trying win10. I see MS already has a service pack for it...
The forced updates really irks me...MS using MY pc as a server is unacceptable...Now it destroys hardware..This win10 behaves exactly like a virus.................
I'll keep win7 and do more checking into a Linux distro..Found three possibilities.....One that interests me has reviews that call it stable and polished.....If I could get Mac OSX to work on a CF52, I would already have ditched windows on my CF52..

I rebooted a couple of times and all is well. All the FN buttons work perfectly.
Some things on 10 bother me besides what you guys pointed out above though. Have you taken a look at all the freaking services they try to run? It's insane to say the least. Worst part is they made some of them to where you can't disable them. Last night I was looking at the Task Manager. I had Edge open with 1 open Tab. My CPU was at 2% but my memory was at a constant 50% usage.
It's funny though how this web site is the only one I have used so far that hangs like crazy. I'm thinking I might go back to W7 as I use this MK3 too much.
FYI, when you do a upgrade like I did I noticed last night in the settings it states you only have 30 days to revert.

This is nuts. 1 Chrome page, Outlook and Edge are the only 3 things I have opened.

I'm sitting here on the porch with the 30 on my lap, wearing shorts meaning it's on my bare skin. The bottom case is just about on edge of being too hot for me to keep using it in this position. NEVER have I experienced this before in 5 years or more.

I sure have seen them. I had as many as I could disable one night but when I started it up the next day they were all enabled again. Come to find out its happening to everyone who installs W10. M$ really messed up this time. I think they have way to many young programers that think they know it all and what we want. My bet is M$ is thinking this will blow over. I don't really think they know what they have done.

    i agree ...
M$ just keeps running toward the cliff ... full bore .
along the lines of them that think they know what *we* want ...
it sure feels like self-centered arrogance .

Reading all of this Win10 is history as a choice for me. There is still a possibility of me running 8.1...
