fresh install of windows ultimate on cf19 mk1 CJBAXBM

Pen and touch, moves pointer arrow and does click on to open, but not accurate cannot calibrate my screen. or find it.
Have i got the correct driver for touch screen and pen input??
    please help

    fnkeys work ie sound,battey,hibernate,brightness, ect
rotation tool works although will not automatically rotate in tablet mode, did then stopped working

    Used this thread for drivers:
    http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/418424-howto-install-windows-7-cf-18-mk1.html

Also tried this too and i see tablet pc control panel
The dependencies for the tablet button capabilities are as follows:
    Panasonic Common Components
    Panasonic Misc driver
    Panasonic Notification utility
    Tablet buttons driver, including
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\meitbrc.dll
    MeiTBSet_STANDARD.reg
    Tablet button manager application

On a non-Tablet PC instance of Windows 7, there is a trick that has been noted for displaying the "Tablet PC" control panel dialog. According to the Microsoft Answers forum, the Tablet PC settings dialogs can be accessed under Windows 7 on non-Tablet PC's by performing the following:
Press the Windows Logo Key + R to bring up the Run dialog
Type in or copy/paste the following in to the "Open" text box
    Code:
    shell:::{80F3F1D5-FECA-45F3-BC32-752C152E456E}

    Hi Toughasnails,
    Thanks for your help.

    ok here goes.

Before i got your message i downloaded and installed the touchscreen driver from fijitsu. see Pic is this the correct one??

ran calibration tool and touched the 12 points and calibrated .

installed the bio's not sure which one?? See Pic one i installed though

Now i have the laptop screen touch working in landscape but in portrait i cannot click precicely on where my pen or finger is.

Also the Rotation tool button on front of computer will only work when i first open up the Tablet pc input panel, then i can rotate in any position landscape or portrait in laptop mode or tablet mode, but does not automatically rotate when turned from laptop to tablet.

What else am i missing from panasonic?
Still have no pen or touch in system properties
    Any ideas,Thanks

My Mk.1 touchscreen wouldn't calibrate in W7 (it worked fine in XP though) until I installed the driver d.091707 (for the Mk.3 I think. Memory isn't what it was)

edit for anyone not reading the full thread: d.091707 is incorrect.

    TPSetup is version 1.0.0.8
    CalTUwin is version 1.0.0.7

    Hope this helps.

thx mack, but i tried that driver and even downloaded it again. I'm still seeing the "no pen or touch input......." under sys properties. And when i go to the calibration utility the two boxes show up blank. I also tried the cmd to see the hidden tablet function with no joy. I looked at the driver for the "touchpad and its saying 1.0.0.3. Which device are you refrencing the 1.0.0.7 and 8 from Mack. thx

The Vista upgrade makes the bios V1.01L16 and the EC V1.10L11.
070055 is the one you need for the upgrade.
There's a .pdf of the complete procedure available on the same page as the downloads.
060232 is to downgrade back to XP.

My installed touchscreen driver version is 1.0.1.0 - this is the Fujitsu file no.
    Yours seems to be 1.0.0.1
May even have got it direct from Fujitsu, not sure.

The Panasonic file no. d091707 I gave earlier may be incorrect, can't find the Panasonic file no. once it's installed. I have all the drivers I've tried and can't find my notes, it's late and I have to be up in 4 hours. Sorry.

In my util2>drivers>tscreen holding the cursor over TPSetup shows it to be file version 1.0.0.8 created 24/08/2009 17:53
CalTUwin shows file version 1.0.0.7 created 07/01/2009 12:33

The date may tally with Panasonic's date on the driver file, hope this helps.

If someone knows how I can find Panasonic's file no. from the installed driver let me know.

Hi, sorry I was too tired last night to sort this properly. The seller of my 19 had loaded W7 but the cursor wouldn't go closer than an inch to the screen edge. About 4 unknown devices too.
Because the touchscreen hardware checked out OK I tried XP with a different HDD and it all worked perfectly.
That was when I downloaded all the W7 drivers I could find and tried each one in turn - and that's why I forgot which one I was using.
This is the route to the touchscreen driver that works on mine.
I found the Japan site always seems to work, it's in the drivers and manuals sources sticky here.

mack, whats your bios version. I dont think mine has been updated and starting to think thats it. I found the drivers but wont let me execute the exe. it comes up with an error. Doing some research and it may be due to the bios, but i just tried to flash to the vista bios and it say my mk1 is not the right one.

Sound to me like you need to update the BIOS. The picture below shows you how I did a search on the USA site here Panasonic Toughbook Computer Support Downloads This will give you all the drivers. Just remember if you go back to XP you will need to upgrade the BIOS again to the new XP BIOS. When I upgraded my CF-30 to W7 I had to do the same thing as this.

"The Vista upgrade makes the bios V1.01L16 and the EC V1.10L11.
070055 is the one you need for the upgrade."

Sorry if that wasn't clear - V1.01L16 is my new bios.
Didn't need to use the usb floppy method, just removed pc/sd cards etc., closed all programs, plugged in mains power and clicked setup... easy peasy.

It's meant for upgrading XP to Vista, not W7 to Vista. Could this be your problem?

Before doing it I spent a long time reading various how-to's here and elsewhere because mistakes with the bios can turn a computer into a doorstop.

Maybe try using Azrial's search for NBR?

There is a thread somewhere here on upgrading to W7 on a 19 MK1 and the first thing to do was to upgrade to the Vista BIOS. As far as I know the CF-19MK1 and CF-30MK1 you have to do this...the MK2's and up have the newer BIOS. On my CF-30 the touchscreen did not work untill I updated the BIOS.

Replace the word "test" with what you are looking for :)

    Hi Blair,

"On my CF-30 the touchscreen did not work untill I updated the BIOS."

Do you mean that you installed W7 and then updated the bios? I didn't try that on my 19 Mk.1 but just assumed it wouldn't work that way round.
I was thinking Shawn would need to reinstall XP, upgrade the bios to the Vista version and then install W7.
oh yes, and reset bios to default settings before bios upgrade - all in the upgrade procedure .pdf I think.

But I'm wrong a lot these days

I did it both ways...At the time when we all were trying to figure out how to install W7 on our Toughbooks none of us were doing the BIOS updates and no one had a working touchscreen untill Rusty found out that it had to be done. As most of you know you can not install all the drivers...the big one is the misc driver without that installed there is about 5 drivers that will not install and to install that one driver you need the BIOS updated as I found out
What I would do since most of you have W7 already installed is to do the BIOS update from the link I showed you then do another full install of W7. I found that W7 will load a lot of the drivers by it self.

Guys im pretty sure nails is correct, but i have tried to update the bios many times with windows 7 already being installed and the bios wont execute or load up via boot disk/usb drive. Im thinking i need to wipe the system to xp then load the bios. Does that sound right? If im trying to use a boot usb and its says its not compatible with this version, then im not seeing why the OS would matter. thoughts?

oK I tell you what I am going to do tonight after work tonight.

(1)...I am going to downgrade my BIOS to the XP one.

(2)...Since I have the restore disk for it , it will not take me long to put XP on it.

(3)...After that I am going to do the vista update BIOS

    (4)...Then I will run W7

(5)...I will use the vista update drivers only.

NOW UNDERSTAND WHAT MY PROBLEM IS

My 19 has a 18 lcd but no video so I have a external monitor set up to it BUT the touch does work and shows up on the external monitor   . Now this should not be a problem but wanted to tell you all first. I have already done this once (W7) and no problems.

Ok this is what I did

I have the updated BIOS and I am doing a FULL install... Done :)

Now what I did is go back to the download page and this time download the drivers for Vista only ( I have them already on CD)... Done

Next I went in to see which drivers W7 did not load and that is where I started... Done

Now I know everyone says load this driver first...follow the driver install order  well I didn't...it's late 3:00 AM

As I was starting to install a few drivers I figured I would run windows update . One of the first drivers I installed was the Panasonic misc driver because you need this installed to install about 5 other drivers... without the BIOS update many of your could not install a lot of drivers because you could not install this one driver... Done

After windows finished installing updates I restarted and so far I have a working touchscreen... Done

Ok I have all the drivers loaded and 3 rounds of Windows update done and as far as I can see it runs great. Not really sure if I helped or not but as long as you get the BIOS updated I think you will not have any problems.

Now it's time to load W7 on my MK2 :D

I would down grade to XP or Vista and run the BIOS update...But I am sure that I have run that update under W7 too because at one time we did not know about that update untill Rusty (i think) found it . You are using the one from panny USA site under "vista upgrade program".

One thing for sure the CF-19MK2 is much easyer to load W7

    Hi,

now i am really confused read and re-read all on installing windows 7,and Panasonic misc driver, bios ect ect.

followed the post from cf18 to w7 but this is not for a touchscreen.but did follow this set up.

also post #24followed your post or tried to but i do not have vista to down grade.

i do have the following from the cf18 post ect installed and i also have downloaded the bio update you suggested but not installed it,and another touchscreen driver also, but not sure is correct for cf19 touchscreen,as i say i am lost on what to do.

the forums jump from one to another, but has anyone actually installed windows 7 with a cf19 TOUCHSCREEN and what did they download and what order did they install and do all functions work? ie automatic rotaion tablet position ect and all buttons on front, sound, brightness ect ect...

My cf19 touchscreen works but, when i flip in tablet mode the calibration is off, works fine in normal postion and can calibrate it,does not automatic rotate, and maybe i other things missing too,i do not know.

    Please help.

Something I just noticed was all the drivers you downloaded were for the CF-19K which is a MK3. The drivers I used were for the MK1 Vista upgrade / "Vista upgrade program update" and the drivers that it didn't have I used the regular Vista drivers. W7 did install the drivers for the touchscreen.

yes this is correct follow my very first post #1 i used this http://forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic/418424-howto-install-windows-7-cf-18-mk1.html

this was how most people in this forum was doing this at that time.
(yes i know this was for a digitzer and i have a touchscreen)

I am not sure if you went from windows xp or vista?it is unclear on how you achieved this.I went from XP i do not have a copy of Vista.

Please can you explain for all of us (non Techies)how to get this working for a CF19 TOUCHSCREEN.

i did also download the windows vista upgrade, you recommended, just need to know what to do in which order and is it possible from already having windows 7 installed?.

Again i have all functions buttons on front working except for the Auto rotate in tablet position and the calibration is way off in this position, but fine in laptop mode.

Press F2 at the blue Panasonic start screen and check your bios version.
If it isn't V1.01L16 then you need to run the Vista bios update.
Blair has done this with W7 already installed but his computer skills exceed mine and presumably yours - no offence intended.
I would - and did - uninstall W7, install XP and then update the bios from XP as Panasonic intended. Then install W7.
Yes it was a pain in the backside but it was worth it to be able to calibrate the screen. Yes it is finger or stylus and it works fine in tablet mode too.

You do not need a copy of Vista...I went from XP to W7. Which program are you using to calibrate your touchscreen. The panasonic program or the one in W7 ?...not sure if it makes a difference or not.

60232 is the correct bios. Just run the .exe. It will either run successfully or give you an error message. You can't screw up anything.

When I first did the upgrade to the BIOS I used a USB floppy drive and used one to down grade too but I don't have it now but I understand that you can use a USB thumb drive so I will be looking into that if not I can buy one on ebay for under $10.00 so no big deal.
Good news for me is my touchscreen is fixed on my CF-19C so by the time I get it back I should be all ready to do the update using a floppy or USB thumb drive (maybe??)...it take about 9 days to ship a parcel to me and it left this morning so a little over a week.
Anyways I would start with XP on the 19 then update the BIOS as panasonic says in there "How to guide" I would not worry about doing any updates to XP or load all the drivers unless you are using the restore disk then you have no choice. I will be able to tell/help you more when I have mine in front of me. I just finished upgrading my CF-19MK2 and that was easy.

I will double check which BIOS update you need shortly

Interesting, as I found that file listed on the Vista Upgrade driver page.

And then there is this on the Panasonic.jp site:

There are two BIOS update programs for CF-19[C/D] series:
Bios_19_1_r070207.exe - For upgrading to Windows Vista from Windows XP
    After executing this program,
BIOS will be V1.01L16 and Embedded Controller will be V1.10L11.
Bios_19_1_r080013.exe - For re-downgrading to Windows XP from Windows Vista
    After executing this program,
BIOS will be V1.00L16 and Embedded Controller will be V1.00L11.

I just checked to see where mine is and it might be in by weekend but most likely Monday

The bios of the CF-19 Mk1 is flashed within Windows. No floppy or CD needed.

No need for a floppy or thumb drive or any of that hard stuff - I can't find the post now but I learned the following from Alex I think.

It worked perfectly on my CF-19 Mk.1 and it upgrades the bios from XP to Vista. I don't know how to run the upgrade from W7. I had to remove W7, install XP, upgrade the bios and then install W7.

I'm an old geezer and new to this 'pooter nonsense.
If I can do this anyone can do it.

    Download file 070055.
Remove any usb's, sd, pc cards etc. and set defaults in bios before upgrading.
Run file 070055 - it extracts to c:\upbios
Go to c:\upbios and run file. Follow the instructions. It's EASY.
    Install W7.
    Live happily ever after.

Well I got my CF-19MK1 back today. So I downloaded the Vista upgrade BIOS bios_1_r0070055(.exe) and opened it C:\upbios (bu191v13) and double clicked on it and nothing  . All I get is a flash of something ??

Ok just got done. I did not load the video and wifi drivers because W7 loaded the updated one's. As far as I know the only thing that does not work is the screen rotation but will look into that later...getting a little late.

    Windows 7 on a CF-19MK1

1 : First thing I did was update the BIOS

    http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/dl/download/file/11542/s2833014/bafc29e4ec779ce2/bios_19_1_r070207.exe

2 : I then put in W7 CD. I have 2 choices, one is install W7 or check compatibility online. I went online and downloaded “ Windows7 Upgrade Advisor “ which will tell you if you 19 will run W7. Everthing passedbut you must use 32 bit.

    3 : Now click “ Install Windows 7 “

4 : Nextclick “ Go online to get the latest updates for installation “

5 : Next upgrade (saves files) or custom (clean install – does not save files) I chose custom install.

    6 : About 45 minutes later W7 is installed...

7 : Before Iinstalled any drivers I checked the touchscreen to see if it was working and it was. I used the W7 calibration tool tocalibrate the touchscreen (16 points). This can be found in “Tablet PC setting

8 : Now toinstall the drivers.

Well still no farther ahead...front buttons still not working and the rotation software will not run...not giving up. I am going to down grade back to XP again and check to see if eveything works on this thing and work my way back up to W7.
