Well had it working for about 10 minutes but when I loaded the rest of the drivers it was gone again. I spent all day saturday working on it...loaded the OS 4 times and drivers. Its just don't like me.
Now I have another problem. I tried to down grade my BIOS to run XP and the file will not work , All I get is a flash of something ?? just like it did on the updated BIOS for W7. Is there another downgraded file for XP ??
Update: I found one on the Japan site
http://pc-dl.panasonic.co.jp/itn/support/vistaxpdwg1.html
BIOS file for upgrading to Windows 7

I think, I've installed all the drivers before I installed any application. Which drivers had u used? I had looked for the driver of a newer cf-19 mk3 with support of Win7 and used all the drivers from this notebook on my mk1.
-
toughasnails Toughbook Moderator Moderator
I used the Vista drivers on the last install but I am going to try W7 drivers this time
-
toughasnails Toughbook Moderator Moderator
The drivers I used were all Vista drivers BUT I just noticed that a lot of the drivers on the Japan site are different than the USA site which is the ones I used. Maybe I will download all the drivers from the Japan site and try them...can't hurt
.

I had a problem with my MK1 and had to order a new HDD connector...was using a non oem one and it was causing a lot of problems. Took me a while to figure it out but when I get it will try again. Would really like to get this up and running too.
-
You have to update the Bios to the "Vista Bios"
Then just use the vista drivers for the Mk1.
With the upgraded Bios the touchscreen should work out of the box with Win 7 and even the Single Touch Win 7 Gestures will work (eg tab and hold for rightclick). -

Yes tried it about 3-4 times at least
. I have loaded W7 at least 5-7 times and there is always something not working. When I get my new hdd connector I am going to try it once more...Got a email from a member to try all the mk3 drivers. Only problem he had was auto rotate did not work but the buttons on front did.
-
Don't see why anyone's fussed about autorotate. Even if I did have another two CF-19's I still wouldn't be juggling with them.
But I could... -
For screen rotation and the rest of the buttons,

I used the driver from CF-19K MK3 (but I think its the same as the CF-19 MK5 driver) and the above zip file which is from CF-19 MK5. -

hi all,
"Wow. Best yet"
Unclemack, i am not trying to be sarcastic to anyone,i am just looking for a solution to a problem, which it seems no one has the answer to,especially when considering my first post was 12-05-2011, 04:49 PM and now it's 22nd April 2012.
if you can help me Unclemack go ahead i'm all ears,i am sure there would be a few people on this forum who would like the answer too
i would think it benefits all.
p.s Toughasnails thanks for the reply, let me know when you have a fix,Thanks -
This is not a paid support service. All the information you find on this forum is passed around for free, some of the write ups represent a lot of time and effort on the part of the poster. I'm not sure you meant to be Gen. Y about it, but your post could easily be taken that way.

Sorry if this was taken the wrong way,but i did,i thought say that in my last post.
Sorry to all who took it that way.
If anyone out there had any ideas to this problem i'm having please let me know.

Well still no luck , I just installed it again and still can't get the rotate buttons on the front to work. Going to formate the drive again and reread all the post and try different drivers this time.

Hi Toughasnails,
Any news on your cf19?
thanks
let me know -
Has anyone any news on the front buttons?
would really like to know if anyone has this done.
Thanks to all -
This download worked for fixing the issue on a CF-19MK3.
Previously the dimming feature and lock features only worked. -

Post #64 is a 'reg' file, and doesn't seem to do anything for my CF-19 MK1. Buttons not working.
I have Win 7 Pro, SP1, on CF-19 MK1 CF-19CDBAXVM.
When last checking Panasonic, they had ZERO drivers for Win7 and said, basically 'not supported.'
Yet someone in another forum had found a bunch of Win 7 drivers for CF-19 MK-1 - so, not sure what the deal is.
I don't think bios update would matter. Looks like I am on BIOS rev V1.00L10. Thoughts? (thanks in advance!) -
toughasnails Toughbook Moderator Moderator
Welcome to the Toughbook Forum
So it looks like you never upgraded the BIOS then and my guess your touchscreen does not work?? Most of the drivers we used were Vista drivers and some W7 drivers from other models of toughbooks. Myself I gave up...never could get them buttons to work -
Send me 50 cents and I will tell you what I did. ;-)
Okay, seriously - I took a Working CF-19A(something) - MK5 model Win 7 Pro 32-bit - anyway, I just basically did a sysprep of the MK5 with the working Windows 7 32-bit; pulled that up to my WDS server; then, as luck would have it - I had another MK1 system left as a 'test system.'
Okay, so I was able to get the MK1 system to PXE boot to the WDS server, and I was able to build a FUNCTIONING copy of Win7 onto the MK1 system, from the MK5 image !!! woo - hoo !!! BUT, the touch screen does not work - just the "pen screen" works - i.e., use the "touch pen" and it works fine; but not touch via fingers - no big deal. All front buttons work! Rotate and everything!
I get ZERO bangs in Dev Mgr - all clear (YIPEE!); BUT still have 3 pop-ups saying "Access to Panasonic misc driver was unsuccessful" (for Rotea, Power extension and Conceal utilites) - but those messages do not seem to affect functioning of the system, and only happen at boot-up and/or first login.
1) Someone please remind me how do I tell which is MK1 vs. MK3 vs. MK5????
2) How do I know which version of BIOS is correct and latest? You said, "Ok, you [meaning 'me'] upgraded without upgrading bios"
My model is: CF-19CDBAXVM - When I went to search for latest BIOS, I think there was only one: BIOS-Upgrade-for-Vista-19m1bl15 and this EC-Upgrade-for-Vista-19m1ecl11(1). If I read that right, then I already have the latest EC, but just not the latest BIOS? L15 would be the latest Vista/7-capable BIOS? Right? So, it would have been best to upgrade BIOS first - DUH to me! LOL
So, I am 99.99% there! (and really, we may be able to live with those 3 warnings).
NOTES/REMINDERS - Some folks may not realize that this is PANASONIC-SPECIFIC Windows 7 - so if you do not have all the "Panasonic Common Apps + Drivers," then things definitely will not work right.
To clarify: You cannot (like I did at first) just install "Vanilla Windows 7 Pro" or "Home" versions and expect all the whiz-bang buttons and things to work. You can get a "disk duplicator" for pretty cheap $40 to $150 and take a known good Win 7 MK5, clone that, and it should have everything on it. The duplicators do a 'sector-by-sector' copy - and so far, those have worked well for me.
You STILL NEED A VALID KEY! Even if you clone, you still will need to change the key appropriately, so that you have a legal, licensed copy of Windows 7. Fortunately, we use KMS and have corporate keys, so it was not an issue for me.
In my specific recent successful image, I did NOT use the duplicator; instead, I built the image from our WDS server, where I had the sysprepped copy of a known good, working Windows 7 system.
PXE BOOT ISSUES! Some MK1 system will NOT pxe boot - not sure if it is BIOS or what? Those with PXE boot problems seem to be the ones with BIOS 1.00L10, whereas the one with the 1.00L13 BIOS did fine with PXE boot.
I hope this information helps those of you who have been trying to make this work - not much difference in MK1 through MK5 hardware, from what I can tell; and the MK1s are marked Vista-capable, so... W7 should (ideally) run on them, without much trouble.
Happy Thanksgiving to all ! -

If anyone still needs drivers and installation instructions look at this page:
Windows® 7 Support and Upgrade Information | TOUGHBOOK | TOUGHPAD | Panasonic Global Notebook PC
This is the Japan site and the drivers are for Mk3`s but it`s what you need to unbang the three unknown devices in the device manager that Windows Update was unable to install.
It`s imperative to update the BIOS first or this won`t work.
Download the Windows 7 Upgrade Step-by-Step Guide, calibutl_v1.00l10m00_19_3_w732_d091707.exe, hotkey_11.1.1100.0_1930_33_w732_d091351.exe, meitbtn_2.1.1000.0_19_3_w732_d091674d081926.exe, meitbman_v2.02l10m00_19_3_w732_d091376.exe, tscreen_v1.00l10m00_19_3_w732_d081526d091540.exe, pcommon_v2.00l11m00_1930_33_w732_d081705.exe, and newmisc_1.2.1100.0_1930_33_w732_d091352.exe from the above link. Open Ver2_Windows 7_Upgrade_Step-by-Step_Guide_CF-19_30.pdf, scroll down to page 13 and install the drivers in the order as instructed in the guide. Note that your not upgrading. but installing these drivers
I bought a CF-19 Mk1 a few days ago and I have read all that I could find about W7 on the Mk1. After discovering the Japan site and the Mk3 tip, both of which are previously mentioned in this thread, I had an easy, smooth and totally successful W7 clean install on my machine, 100% fully functional, no issues!
I hope this helps those having issues with W7 on Mk1`s, I owe many thanks to this forum and many of it`s members for all the information that they have provided and for their time and effort invested helping people like myself.
THANK YOU NOTEBOOK REVIEW!! -
Is there some trick to updating the bios?
I see folks are running from the upbios folder on C: drive.
I see that bios_19_1_r070207 is the recommended one, right?
but I've tried bios_19_1_r080013 and bios_19_1_r070055 also
NONE work, they are not updating BIOS
I get a pop up that says wb191v16 ERROR: This program will not run on this PC. -

Welcome to the Toughbook Forum
Please post your full model number (CF-19#######) -
I am working with two mark 1's currently.
Cf-19 cjg33bm. And. Cf-19 djg30bm.
Very old models. -
A couple of comments, a question but not much help yet.
1. The D model is Federal Only no wireless.
2. Both are Touchscreen and XP.
What bios and ec do they show now? From the similarity in numbers I would assume they came from the same user. IOW it may be a special bios#. May need special handling.
