At last I seem to have a smooth running WIN7 on my MK2 CF19. Getting the drivers installed in the right order helps however, pretty much all the drivers needed came in WIN7. I have only one minor issue and that is when altering the sound/brightness there is normally a small graphic showing the level of sound/battery/brightness ect. If I install the application for that the brightness refuses to alter although the graphic is being displayed? No big deal I deleted the program and will do without it.
Other than that all seems to be well, I just need to check the smart card reader works and of course the damn modem is still slow, that has been an ongoing problem even when the TB was all OEM with Vista.
Thanks to all that helped.

Man, you are the first who did it (in this thread)

Well that was short lived! I had been using my WIN 7 CF19 with different apps and all seemed to be fine. I was watching a film in bed and had fell asleep, later I was woken by the film and so groping around the keyboard and looking for the function and minus volume key or at least the mute key all went quiet, I fell back to sleep and forgot all about it untill a couple of days later, I switched on the machine and used it to read the codes on a vehicle (the machines primary use) and there was no sound at start up. I dismissed it and the machine worked fine and read codes ect. When I switched it off again there was no sound, I simply assumed it was muted.
Today I tried another film and sure enough the sound has disapeared! There is no sound at start up/shut down, no dinks ect to incorrect button presses ect, there is no film/music sound from the machines own speaker however, all sounds work fine through the headphones plugged in the jack at the back.
I tried mute/unmute, and every other sound config in the control panel.
As I know have a working formula (well I thought I had) to wipe and reload the hard drive within a short time I did this and still no luck, I tried the load hotkey app/mute/unmute ect suggested awhile back something that work for film sound but this time no luck whatsoever.
Sorry for the long post but it saves a lot of 'to and fro' with the questions, is it possible that the main speaker has simply failed and that it was just coincidence or am I still asleep and dreaming this up?
many thanks in advance

Dude... It isn't hard to do this... With larry doing the preliminaries, I just loaded up a CF-19 MK2 with win 7 on tuesday...

many thanks anyway Rob,

The sound won't work right if ALL 3 of the hotkey drivers aren't installed correctly! (And the sound driver of course!
).
Thanks -
Hmmm that is a little odd, I had sound the moment I used the MS site to load any upgrades but this often led to the sound working for the startup/shut down but not the films ect. I fixed as per a forum members advice to load 'hotkey app' and then use the function + F4 to mute/unmute. That worked fine. Now even that does not work and besides when I had that issue the headphones did not work either, now I have headphones but no device speaker, do the just fail without warning Rob?
I have tried all the drivers that have worked before but had never had to install the sound driver which I found odd, everything worked so I just left it. Since this problem has occured I have tried with and without the sound drivers and pretty much every other config I can think of, I am now leaning towards hardware failure?

ok... as I've stated in another thread on here... here it goes..
Windows 7 on CF-30 and CF-19.... you MUST use the 'outdated' Panasonic drivers. Download ALL of them off the website, follow the instructions on the PDF for a mk4. DO NOT download updated drivers from Intel or anywhere else yet. Panasonic has custom Intel drivers. After installing all the drivers, you may use Windows Update to update everything. If you download the Intel driver update utility, it will tell you that there are custom drivers loaded and it will not download updated ones.
You will then be able to mute and use the brightness keys on your CF-30 AND CF-19. Been there, done that. I'm running W7 Ultimate x86 on my CF-19 mk3 using mk4 drivers, and had the same running on my old CF-30.
The only thing that won't work properly is the lock button in the front, you'll need to press enter afterwards to lock. -
Thanks for that canuckcam I will give it a go as it is late here (Spain) now.
It is odd that I had it all working and something I pressed muted the TB spaeker and yet NOT the headphones?

Hmm.. good point - I never tried the headphones. But for the longest time what I did was... don't hit mute!! But inevitably by accident I would. Install the appendix driver, reboot, unmute (but you lose the brightness control)... Uninstall appendix, reboot.. DON'T HIT MUTE! lol.

Probably is a driver-related cause as usual... but don't forget how often 3.5 jack sockets have to be replaced.

Sorry for the delay in replying guys, for whatever reason I did not get a notification that someone had posted on this thread, it must be something I idi or rather did not do to get the notifications?
I am starting over to see if I can sort the sound out, it is very frustrating to say the least!
Many thanks

Well it seems the search engine is having a day off? Regardless of what I search for it get the 'invalid_search_ query' reply.
I was going to look around for every driver related to this machine and try spending some more time with it, I will have another go later.

Welcome to the Panasonic Toughbook forum
When posting a question try to post your full model number. There is a big difference on how W7 is installed on a MK1 and MK2. Check out this search. Lots of threads on it https://www.google.com/search?btnG=...9+mk2+site:forum.notebookreview.com/panasonic -
