It's soo wierd....I pushed FN+F8 on my keyboard, and my kitchen faucet started dripping??????
just joking:
But really, why is there a dripping faucet on the F8 key?

To switch between "normal" mode and "power-conserving" mode (which makes the screen dimmer, and spins down the hard driver sooner and blanks the display sooner when the computer is idle), use "Fn" and "F8" (the little picture of the faucet on the F8 key is to symbolize power flowing through the laptop).

On most ACPI-compliant laptops, that button is used to toggle between Power Management Profiles. Older machines managed this through the BIOS; now it's all handled by the OS and I believe you have to define some profiles before it will work. I can't remember seeing it work with the default Power Management Profiles in Windows; at least not since like Win'98.

I have a CF-29 mk1. When I push the little button, nothing seems to happen. I have the appropriate software installed; IE, little blue squares with yellow symbols pop up for volume, mute, brightness, etc.
Nothing for a drippy faucet though. How do I know if it did somehting ,or what mode it's in? or does the mk1 not support this feature?
thanks soo much!
And I can validate your signature, btw: I heard ol' Hammy say it out loud. -
does nothing on my CF-29MK2. No such legend is present on the F8 key either (in fact it is the ONLY function key devoid of a 2nd function legend)
WTH? FN+F8=drippy faucet
