Anyone know what exactly they do?
I mean a semi technical explanation.
Do they change the data rate or frequency ???
How do they affect the USB port connected to the WWAN mini PCI-E slot?
3 and counting down..

Shawn,
There have been many explanations over the years... But mine have always been set perfect form the factory. BUT... If you are switching modems... You need to change the DIP switches.
Teo will probably chime in and save the day.... -
I'm not using a modem. I am attempting a GPS.

I'm sure nobody knows the answer.
Even responsible Panasonic engineers were drown in an ocean)

It is to identify and activate the CDMA or GSM network. Google the difference between the GSM and CDMA network and you will find the answer.

So why does it matter where they are set when I install a mini pcie GPS in the WWAN slot?
I'm .guessing that it has to do with bandwidth or datastream -
Seriously need to know.Attached Files:

Fiddled around with the switches yesterday in a CF-19 and a Huawei EM820U. I could get a Serial enable/disable indented sub-menu to appear or disappear in BIOS under WWAN enable/disable, which I presume is the GPS, while still keeping the WWAN working.

Playing around some more with the dip switches today on a CF-19 MK2 has revealed that some positions will either power up the WWAN radio during POST (front LED is on), will not light up but during POST but wait for the software to activate it, or will not work at all. Of course this is with the side radio switched on.
Another interesting observation that is related to the above is that Linux can better deal with the radio off than Windows. If it is not completely on with the front LED lit before launching the software, the Mobile Partner software I'm using to connect will think the module is disabled. I experienced this with ON-ON-ON-OFF. Linux network-manager will fire it up no problems.
It's confusing but I believe with time and patience we should be able to figure this out.Shawn likes this. -
On models like the T/W5,7,8 series you only have 2 dip switches.
